A new firmware update is already out for at least the UK. Not bad considering the Xperia Arc has been in customers hands for 6 days.
We dont think it is the Android 2.4 update which Sony Ericsson said will be coming near or on the date of release. In fact we have very little details about this update, but at least it shows that Sony Ericsson are looking to keep the phone updated.
Since we know the Arc and Play run similar firmware thanks to the system ROM dumps made by devs at XDA, I think it is safe to assume that the update will reach Play phones very soon.

SE is comming back!
2.4 should be anounced first schouldn’t it?
No idea at this stage. I dont know the full differences between 2.3 and 2.4 so I cant comment
2.4 isnt yet there for the Nexus devices so it could take a while untill it could available for other devices.
I got my phone yesterday and it kept locking up when running apps, new firmware update seems to have cured it.
Will just be general update not Android FW update. My xperia play had an update from SE about 3/4th 2days after official release
Its most handset manufactures ways of doing things, send it out and soft the final sw out later
But else we would have been facing the same delays as with x1 and x10 which became available months and months after the presentation.
Ye as least Play released in the right date.

I didn’t had any update..
really, my maybe its something for the UK? may be dependent on variant?
I have a SIM free UK spec version. When I went on Settings>about> Software update it pulled an update down. not usual app updates from store.
Just checked that and there is a update indeed, but battery is low
