HelpLately there have been some rumours about the release date of X1. It was said that it supposedly won’t see the light of the day till some time in February 2009. I’ve told many people otherwise and I have now fetched an official statement regarding the X1 and its release.
- I can confirm that we will be launching the X1 product in 2nd Half of 2008, as per our announcement of 10th February that we made in Barcelona, said Aldo Liguori, who is the Corporate Vice President of the Global Communications and PR department at Sony Ericsson.
So, there you have it. The only reason for the mysterious “10th of February release” is the fact that Sony Ericsson (or should I say Microsoft) has yet to decide on when to publicly announce the operating system and technical specifications of the X1, and thereby also a precise release date.
I was going nuts waiting for new news on this dream machine’s release date. So I called Sony. The rep said end of May, beginning of june. Now I hope he wasn’t just telling me stories. I mean afterall, they don’t even have a carrier selected, so I’m a bit skeptical.

Since I’ve read about this 2009 release rumour, I’ve felt really bad.
Been really hating my TyTN II recently.
I will have to hold on to it and prevent myself from a rash purchase before this baby comes out.
IT IS CONFIRMED THAT THE HARDWARE AND 3D ACCELRATIONS ARE TO BE FULLY UTILIZED===DRIVERS:) Sony Ericcson XPERIA X1
Also, I think for it to support 30fps media playback and video shooting, it must have it====for to be logic:)
One of the drawbacks is that the keyboard doesn’t have arrow keys:(
Also, it doesn’t have a Ctrl button:(
A WORRY:
this screen size might not be compatible with most of the programs we use:
Navigon 6.2 GPS S/W
Opera Browser 8.65
NetFront 3.5 Browser
Resco Media Suite
GAMES:(
I hope the above will work with no problems.
Everything works on my TyTNII but I really hate the performance.
The HTC Universal was my last true high performing PPC.
I think I will go for a long sleep and wake up in September:)

Here, in sweden, the rumor is that it will be released around the same time as the iphone so we are looking at June/July.

Releasing before the iPhone in June or even soon after, Sony might stand a chance to compete with Apple and not loose many customers, but waiting until September … might as well sell your stock, the iPhone will trounce the X1 by the time it comes around

I just came from sony style store at the mall and they are very sure that they’ll get the X1 by mid June – early July and for the price they’re expecting it to be not less than $400 & no more than $600.

It’s officially been announced for a release date of Sept. 30th in the UK, Sweeden, and Germany. Everywhere else is suppose to have the xperia x1 by the end of Q4. Plus, for the Americans, Sony reps there will announce Nov.3,08 when the xperia x1 will be released there.

i am a vodafone customer.waiting to upgrade my old phone to new one.so vodafone customer services confirmed to me that sonyericson xperia x1 will be available in the stock of vodafone in uk at the 10th of october 2008 for upgrade.

Well the xperia x1 is out now, but it is only available in four countries, the UK, Germany, and Sweeden. News for the America release is suppose to come this Nov, but I am not holding my breath because Sony takes forever.
