Video preview: Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1
Here’s our 12-minute video preview of the drool-worthy XPERIA X1. In the video, we’re covering the design and feel of the phone, boot-up, the XPERIA panels, camera and briefly the two web browsers, Opera Mobile and Mobile Internet Explorer. We hope you enjoy the video, as it was straight-up painful to upload (almost 300 megabytes) - this one is not going on YouTube, that’s for sure! At least not today. Keep in mind this is a prototype, although it seems in a stage awfully near retail.

Great video… makes me want this phone even despite the fact that it’s Windows. Looking forward to your review of the phone. =)
Thanks, Clauf. Must say I’m looking forward to writing the review as well!
Very nice and detailed review .. if was put up on youtube would def have the highest count … great work
Thanks k man. Decided to put it on YouTube after all, as the FLV file is down to about 43 megabytes after blip.tv’s conversion.
Looks more compact that I initially imagined. Nice piece of gadgetry
Very Nice Review.
Hmm, but i think i pass on this phone and still go for the C905 (A)
Don’t really need a Smartphone (since i don’t use Navigation :))

I really REALLY want this phone now, but they seriously screwed up the US release of what was supposed to be the phone that marked a turning point for Sony Ericsson. Screw it, I may just get the G1.
would you consider the xperia to be a business smartphone or a multimedia smartphone? how is the sound quality when playing music?
Lalala,
Both. I’ll explain that in the review.
so you still didn’t write the review
when are you going to write it and post it? today
LoveMurder,
No, I can’t base a large review on a few days of using a phone. That’s just not enough time for trying everything out and finding bugs, etc. I can promise you, though, that it’ll be very large. Larger than anything I’ve publish before.

I just phoned o2 UK and they have confirmed to me that it is going to be released next week! They said it would be made available somewhere between the 27th and 31st. Finally!!!
Thanks for all the posts regarding it Michell, they have really wet my appetite!
What’s the music on the video? Nice vid btw, looking forward to getting this phone when it’s finally available in UK.
Very good video preview, indeed. But I’ve seen enough, I’ve read enough, I’ve heard enough about the X1 but I still don’t have one at home
Damn this, I’ve been waiting for this thing for a really long time, I want it now! Hope I’ll have one before Christmas… Don’t need any large reviews to convince
hi, i can’t find a url to your’s videos on YouTube Michell, could you past they here ? i’m talking about unboxing X1 and this preview.
Hi codic,
Any particular reason why you can’t view the blip.tv content? The YouTube account is here

Hi Michell, sorry could you tell me what the music is in this video??
Looking forward to getting this mobile, hopefully within the next two weeks.
The song is called Uplink.
To Michell: I just wanted to add this video to favourites
i don’t have an account on blip.tv but i do on YouTube
I can’t upload this particular video to YouTube. Its duration is more than ten minutes, unfortunately.
You could upload it to Video.google
I see a lot of videos there that are more than 30 minutes.
@Michell, could you please include in your review the newly announced SPB panels if you manage to download it. i’m eager to see that specialized panel for X1. it makes touchFLO 3D less acttractive.
razec,
There are more than just the standard one? Link, please!
Xperia and c905i is available In India.
@razec
i thought there was only one new addition to the panels & it’s only a different view for the standard home screen? & i think it’s available at the SE website.
Clauf. I would like to ask if the X1 can be operated using one hand when trying to firstly search for a contact, the old p1 and p990’s had the flip keypad which made searching with one hand easy?
Hi Michell,
I read somewhere that Sonyericsson would consider another OS than Windows Mobile for the X1 somewhere in the near future. Any idea? Great video that! The phone seems to be really nice however the only glitch I could spot was that it gets really slow when switching from portrait to landscape and vise versa when on panel mode, you think that can be solved?
