Unknown QWERTY messaging device leaked

qwertydevice

This was posted by PeterKay over at Esato just a few minutes ago. It represents a QWERTY messaging device, that won’t be announced soon. The text reads:

“The new Reese from Sony Ericsson. A unique swivel design reveals a QWERTY keypad below the large portrait screen which allows you to view several messages of any one kind in high definition. It also comes with one-click access to your favourite networking sites. So now it’s never been easier to keep up with your mates.”

Sony Ericsson already says interested in the Platform. It will be very good to be true.

Since both rugged off-road tablet PC:s and fairly rugged cameras with swivel hinges already exists, it should be quite possible to create a swivel-only joint (with no hinge) that is sturdy enough to match and surpass the ruggedness (or lack thereof) of the average high-spec cellphone. Thus I think the design seems reasonable enough. It elegantly does away with the need to rotate the UI. With a bit of practice one could probably both wring open and thumb-type a bit singlehandedly. The front camera sitting on the keyboard rather than the display suggests this thing could be real. In fantasy land you reasonably wouldn’t put it there, while in reality - where you need little things like wiring and internal space - you just might.

Could it be touchscreen too?  The numeric keys would be awkward for dialing otherwise.

I doubt this one will use Android.  The UI doesn’t rotate so they could easily use their existing native SE platform with hardly any changes.
