Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 UK Release Delayed Until 2010

Monday, December 7th, 2009

sony-xperia-x2-keyboardMissing out on the big Xmas season, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 is now slated for a January release on the official Vodafone site in the UK, the network set to have a period of exclusivity for the business slider.

With a 3.2-inch high resolution touchscreen and 8.1 megapixel camera, the X2 is ready for pleasure as well as business…well, it would have been if the Windows Mobile 6.5-powered device had made its Q4 release window.

Between the Sony Ericsson Satio being pulled from shelves over problematic firmware and the Aino having touchscreen performance issues, the delay for their smarphone sequel is unfortunate.

With a swathe of hot handsets earmarked for launch early in the new year — including Sony Ericsson’s own Android-ready XPERIA X10 — the luxurious X2 will have to jostle for position amongst an array of releases from the competition.

The X2 Shows Up In White

Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 white

Sony Ericsson’s next Windows Mobile flagship – the (supposedly named) X2 has been photographed yet again. This time the leaked photo shows a white version of the phone and a much better view of the QWERTY keypad – we think.

So, the next XPERIA is rumoured to boast an 8 megapixel camera, a large 3.2″ (3.5″?) touchscreen amongst many other niceties, including its predecessor’s features. The new menu looks like to be the homescreen of Windows Mobile 6.5 in stead of the 6.1 version in the X1. We’ll just have to wait and see whether all of this is true. Ya’ hear that, SE?
