Sony Ericsson W715 review up

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

The review many of you have been waiting for is finally finished! Sony Ericsson’s very own W715 has been described in detail by yours truly. What’s curious is that it’s actually a double review of the W705 and the W715, since they’re pretty much the same. There are also lots of photos, UI pictures and galleries. I would like to thank Michell for taking the photos of both the W715 and the C510 and for generally helping me out while I was composing the article.

So, we’re quite positive about the phone, really. It’s both elegant and sleek, has Wi-Fi and GPS and boasts superior audio quality. The price is also pretty adequate. Have a look right here:

The Sony Ericsson W715 is a music version of the G705, which is a brilliant phone that comes at a relatively cheap price. The price of the W715 isn’t bad either. Here’s our gallery of the W715.

Video unboxin’: Sony Ericsson W715

Here’s our unboxing video of the Sony Ericsson W715. It’s pretty slick, which hopefully shines through in the video!

We’ll do a gallery of this phone later on!

Just got my hands on the brand new W715, and wanted to share a few very quick pictures and thoughts of it with you. Enjoy! :-)

The W715 looks and feels a lot like the classic W880, yet in a more modern package a la the W995.

nkn_0357-edit

The W715 is a slim and compact phone that feels as light as a feather in your hand.

Here it is with Sony Ericsson’s upcoming W995. There are quite a bit of similarities, both design and specification wise.

Contrary to the W995, the keypad on the W715 feels good to use.

The back of the W715 is rubberized, and feels rather good. The 3.2 megapixel camera is located on the top with an LED flash, and there’s an interesting texture design on the back of the slider.

And here it is from another view, where it almost looks blue.

I will do a (video) preview of the W715 soon-ish and a gallery of the phone as well. Perhaps even an unboxing video, if you’re interested in that kind of stuff. Stay tuned for more!

New “Try the phone” sites

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

As some of you probably know, the C510, W705, W715 and W395 have been released quite recently. Just like with every other newly-released phone, SE has made several phone UI demo sites available. Yep, that means you can try out these phones on-line before eventually buying them. And no, I didn’t mean to imply anything with that last sentence…

Here are the links:

The W715 demo is the same as the W705 one.

Sony Ericsson announces W705’s Voda twin – the W715

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

In addition to the W508 and the C510, Sony Ericsson also announced today a Vodafone version of the W705 and confusingly named it W715. The phone’s got everything its twin already features, but with a few extras as well. Like the W705, it features a 3.2MP camera with an LED flash, Wi-Fi, Clear Audio Experience and Clear Bass (a la W980 and W902), a YouTube player, Shake control and SensMe. It also has a relatively large 2.4″ screen and a  metallic body.

What’s different, though is that it also has a GPS module (like the G705, the non-walkman version of the W705), which can be used with Vodafone’s Find&Go service, which enables users to find “their nearest restaurants, hotels or shopping centres all within a few clicks on their new mobile phone”. There’s also the standard package of navigation software that comes with every aGPS-equipped SE phone. Some people should also be happy to know that the W715 now comes with an 8GB M2 card, unlike the 4GB one that ships with the W705.
There’ll also be a new colour – Galactic Black (pictured), in addition to the Luxury Silver one we’ve come to know from the W705.

Again, I remind you that this is a Vodafone-branded handset. Despite that, there is a possibility that there will be a non-branded version coming out in the Nordic countries.
