Over at se-community.com, I have published a set of livepics of the latest announced SE phones and the MS410 loudspeaker. You can find the pictures here:
Soo Sony Ericsson has put up the promo videos of their new low-end, namely the S312 and the W205 on their website. But since their flash players are a tad inconvenient to embed (start automatically), we’re posting them in a user-friendly YouTube format. Or rather copying them, since we didn’t actually go through the process of uploading the videos. You can see them below.
In my opinion they’re quite good. Fantastic even. I mean, some of their high-ends have worse promotional videos (read W995).
Just when you thought that they couldn’t go cheaper than the W395, Sony Ericsson did it again! The W205, ladies and gentlemen, is the result. A Walkman phone for the preschoolers. T303’s Walkman version, if you will.
It has an amazing 1.8″ TFT screen, supporting 65k colours and with a resolution of 128×160 pixels. So that rules out people with poor eyesight. The phone itself is 16mm thick, which makes it rather chunky. The height and the width compensate for that, being 92×47mm respectively.
Soo, what makes the W205 so special? Nothing. Well, apart from its relatively small size. It’s got Walkman v2, the dreadful Sagem interface (no themes!), Java games, FM radio, a 1.3MP camera on its back, allowing up to 2.2x digital zoom and video recording. Bluetooth is also there. Oh, also, unlike the T303, the W205 features a Memory Stick Micro M2 card slot.
In our opinion, this phone is awfully redundant. By the time of its release there will be much better last-gen phones selling for the same price (most probably). One could always buy it as a backup phone, I guess, or for their child. The expected release will be somewhere in Q2 this year, when the phone will ship in Ambient Black.
Also announced today is the MS410 Snap-on speaker. It supports all Walkman phones.
