Sony Ericsson’s upcoming Cyber-shot line to sport Smile Shutter

It’s been rumoured for a while that Sony’s ‘Smile Shutter’ technology will be implemented in Sony Ericsson’s future line of European Cyber-shot phones. Among these are three phones, codenamed Filippa, Frances and Kate.

Now, SEMC Blog has a bit of an update on the technology as well as a logo of it. As most of you had already guessed by now, Smile Shutter will automatically take a picture of people in focus when they smile. You can override the Smile Shutter function by pressing the shutter key a second time, if that’s what you want.

Contrary to what SEMC Blog states, Smile Shutter is not a new feature to Cyber-shot devices though, as the Japanese 5.11-megapixel W61S has had this feature since its announcement almost a year ago. The aforementioned phones will however be the first Cyber-shot branded handsets to feature it in Europe.
