Sony Ericsson just announced its Q1 financial results, and as expected, things aren’t looking too bright.

Sony Ericsson will have to perform another cost savings program, which will include a further reduction in employees of approximately 2,000 people.
They’re hoping it’ll be completed in mid 2010.
Also announced today was the next Entertainment Unlimited announcement date. This will be on May 28, and based on what Sony Ericsson wrote in the press release, it will not be about Idou, but a new product.

Sony Ericsson has just announced its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2008. It seems the overall mobile market is contracting due to the global economic slowdown. You can find the results below.

- In economic terms, 2008 has been a tumultuous year with world markets experiencing a serious downturn. The mobile phone market has been greatly affected by this and as expected, the fourth quarter continued to be very challenging for Sony Ericsson. Our business alignment is progressing as planned, with the full effect of annual savings of around Euro 300 million expected by the second half of 2009. We foresee a continued deterioration in the market place in 2009, particularly in the first half,” said Dick Komiyama, President, Sony Ericsson.
It doesn’t look good, but according to Sony Ericsson’s President, Dick Komiyama, they’ll focus a lot more on high-end phones in 2009. Especially the C905 and X1 have sold well, and positively impacted the business.

Sony Ericsson has just sent out a press release saying that it will announce its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2008. It will be rather exciting to see how they turn out, not only because of the Christmas season, but also because Sony Ericsson’s President Hideki Komiyama has stated that the results should turn from negatives figures to positive figures during Q4. I guess we’ll see how it turns out fairly soon though, as Sony Ericsson will announce the results on January 16, 2009 at 07:30 UK time / 08:30 CET, and has scheduled the usual analyst and media conference call just two hours after.
