Sony Ericssons Announces LiveView™ Bluetooth Accessory

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

If you’ve been seriously disappointed in Sony Ericsson due to the delay in the Eclair Update for its Android range, then Sony Ericsson has just announced an accessory that might just cheer you up.

First things first, it is NOT an Ipod Nano; infact it seems quite similar (once attached to the watch kit) to the OLED bluetooth watchs which Sony Ericsson still produce.

As far as hardware goes, there are two buttons on the top of the screen and 4 soft keys at each end of its 128×128 1.3″ screen. Software wise, the phone only supports Android phones with Sony Ericsson LiveWare™ Manager App installed. No, not your old K850 or your cute pink Vivaz ….

There is one other catch – Android phone compatible (Android OS 2.0 and above) . So it appears we aren’t going to see this in retail shops until the Eclair update rolls out for most of the Android range, which should be around Q4. However, the accessory doesn’t seem to be limited to Sony Ericsson phones only. Oh and by the way, the X10 in the video seems to be running Eclair … :p

New Sony Ericsson luminous concept dress modeled by Maria Sharapova

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

concept-dress-sharapova

Sony Ericsson’s own ambassador – Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova – wore a rather striking dress at an event in London on the 17th June. What’s so unique about it is that it uses Bluetooth to connect to your phone and lights up when you’ve got an incoming call. That way you know when someone’s calling you even when you can’t hear your phone (say, in a noisy club). This “light up” effect is described to originate from “small, white translucent scale embellishments that run down one side of the dress from the shoulder to the hip”.

The concept dress was designed by George Davies, a London College of Fashion student. The prototype garment is still far from being a commercial product, so you gals should probably stop wondering how on earth you’d have to wash this thing.

Sony Ericsson announces Bluetooth speaker for the outdoors

ms500-beach

Today Sony Ericsson added yet another Bluetooth speaker to its accessory portfolio – the MS-500. Unlike its siblings, though, this one is very light, it’s so small that it can “fit in the palm of your hand” and is designed so that you can enjoy your music outside without worrying thms500at something could happen to it. It’s got a splash proof shell and a handy strap, which you can use to safely attach the speaker to a bag, your wrist or… something else.

Furthermore, the speaker can’t be recharged. It is powered by two AA batteries, which you can swap anywhere in case you’re out of juice. Speaking of which, the speaker can stream music up to five hours.  What’s interesting is that the speaker has a DSP chip which is used to enhance the audio output – sweet! It’s also got  Bluetooth v2.1 (obviously), supporting the A2DP and AVRCP profiles, which means that it can be used with most current Sony Ericsson phones plus those from other brands.

The MS-500 will be released in 2 colours – black with orange (apparently, the stripe on the side) and white with pink. Boy, I’d love to have one of these!
