Sony Ericsson’s Q4 financial results
Sony Ericsson has just announced its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2008. It seems the overall mobile market is contracting due to the global economic slowdown. You can find the results below.

- In economic terms, 2008 has been a tumultuous year with world markets experiencing a serious downturn. The mobile phone market has been greatly affected by this and as expected, the fourth quarter continued to be very challenging for Sony Ericsson. Our business alignment is progressing as planned, with the full effect of annual savings of around Euro 300 million expected by the second half of 2009. We foresee a continued deterioration in the market place in 2009, particularly in the first half,” said Dick Komiyama, President, Sony Ericsson.
It doesn’t look good, but according to Sony Ericsson’s President, Dick Komiyama, they’ll focus a lot more on high-end phones in 2009. Especially the C905 and X1 have sold well, and positively impacted the business.

I don’t pity them seeing how they treated k850i customers…pretending it was a low-budget phones (firmware wise). I’ve always been loyal to SE until they let me down with the k850i.. now i’ll easily consider a nokia or HTC.
What excactly did they do to you?
It’s a pity… But SE is going to become SONY. No more SE. Numbers make decisions.
Well….maybe they shouldn’t have released the X1 at the highest price I have ever seen on a non-luxury mobile phone. Yes I realize that the price has gone down now, but not by much to be competitive with other slide out qwerty keyboards.
Apart from many bugs and sluggish interface, they gave us a phone that would brick itself randomly (BROD).
I paid €10 to the davinci-team to have it re-flashed..because SE itself did not offer a solution until recently.
Well, I think you can live with that
Ye, it’s not about the €10 or the effort it took..but about how SE treated its customers. Many people lost their data (and €10) more than once because SE was too ignorant or lazy to fix the problem. As of today people are still having the problem, although SE offers a solution with SEUS now. SE were always about top-end quality but screwed up with the k850..
Don’t get me wrong i dont have sleepless nights over this..just that I’m not pro-SE anymore:)
I guess that’s region dependant. I have a W810i, modded and all. The fast-port and the camera key where somewhat defective and they just got me a new phone
Officially, it didn’t have even warranty anymore
