Sony Ericsson’s new 5-megapixel ‘Kate’ leaked
Sony Ericsson’s upcoming 5-megapixel Cyber-shot phone, codenamed Kate (they didn’t know, so we’ll tell you!), was leaked just recently at cellphonesail.net. It is basically a C902 but with the slightly updated software (i.e. Java Platform 8.4 like on C905). Other than sporting a 5 megapixel resolution, the camera also features auto focus and smile shutter. It has a xenon flash and there’s a button for switching between camera modes (still, video & preview).
There’s no built-in GPS, nor is there a camera on the front for video calls. It operates on quad-band, EDGE, UMTS and HSDPA networks.
We’re guessing Sony Ericsson will make things official about Kate in October along with a few other mid/high-end products. It’ll probably be available late this year. Price-wise, we’re looking at a phone that’s likely to end at about 300 Euro.

i thought se was done making phones that are all to alike. this looks almost like my c902.
Hopefully it has a bigger screen than C902…
The sensor which is visible on the aperture of the lens was colored green, which is unusual compared to the sensors i’ve seen on C902, K850, K800 and K750. but is similar to the sensor color i’ve seen on S700. could this mean that it CCD?

I want a brilliant cameraphone whit really good optics and a real nice sensor ;-) And I also want a big nice VGA display so I can look att my pictures…… Cybershot phones use to stand for good image quallite, but now it seems like we are beaten by samsung and maybe even LG then we are talking image performens.
looks good. the slider is definitely better than the c902 slider IMO
but SE’s gotta do more than this to get ppl to buy their camera phones.
i agree wif Snappshot…samsung has already rolled out their INNOV8, but SE is still slow in getting the c905 to the market…
i remember they announced that it was the “first 8 megapixels camera handphone” in the market…
but looks like they are only the 1st to announce…not 1st to launch n sell…

I Think Sony Ericsson is still having the same mistakes lauching too much similar phones…
Let’s stay with few but the best…. like was in the past… More quality and less quantity..

I love it.
We need cheap and very good camera phones in Brazil and other countries. Kate seens have few features, but it has xenon, that its a realy necessery feature to camera phone. This probabily is the k790 and k800 sucessor and i have sure: IT WILL BE A SUCESS and will be a BEST SELLER.
(PS. Sony don’t constrain me. Don’t release a poor and no autofocus camera phone or you will be my hate.)
