The eagerly awaited Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 might be facing further delays to launch according to a recent tweet from Mobile Review’s Eldar Murtazin, with the phone apparently slipping to a mid-March 2010 release.
Previously earmarked for an “early Q1″ launch, the X10 is sporting one of the heaviest Android makeovers to date, with the ambitious Timescape and Mediascape UIs providing an entirely new look for a Sony Ericsson handset.
The second blow in the message is regarding potential Android updates, as the X10 is based on the v1.6 ‘Donut’ iteration and Eldar doesn’t see a v2.0 ‘Eclair’ upgrade – let alone to v2.1 – on the cards. With the Motorola DROID and Google’s recently unveiled Nexus One sporting the latest and greatest builds of Android, does the X10 run the risk of being dated as soon as it gets launched?
With the X1 suffering from a protracted development and steep pricing and the X2 not even making it to shelves (in the UK at least), we hope that the X10 can break the XPERIA curse and be a big 2010 hit for Sony Ericsson.
