Loading ...Sony Ericsson announces large C905 firmware update, and adds Tender Rose variant
Sony Ericsson today also announced that it will provide a large firmware update for the Sony Ericsson C905, that is designed to add extra value to the phone. Sony Ericsson calls it the “C905 Cyber-shot upgrade” and features the following:
- Smile Shutter
- YouTube video client
- WayFinder 8
- Built-in Snapfish service by HP
- SMS/MMS conversation style (chat view)
Other than that, there’ll be the usual bug fixing, etc. The upgrade will be available from mid-February, presumably offered via Sony Ericsson Update Service.
Also announced today is the Tender Rose colour variant of the C905, which will be available this quarter of the year.

The main thing I like in this package is the Smile Shutter.

Hope this fixes the long time to connect to GPS, adds a variable backlight timeout option, failing earpiece issue, alternative button for powering on/off phone. If so brilliant!
Hopefully they’ll add some more useful camera features such as fill-flash, better ISO management and photo detail improvements. Then they could justify the “Cybershot” name on the phone ! At least fill-flash ability is long overdue on this range of phones.

just got the update!!! those who haven’t yet… do it. after updating, once you turn on your phone again, it will look like it still is updating, and may seem like your resolution turned to 256-color windows setting. hahaha. that gave me the creeps. smile shutter works perfect!
In Europe there is still no update. I’M still on the R1BA042.
Im in UK, tried to update but it says im on the latest firmware which is 1208-0447R1BA038 081016. Any ideas?
Try to download the Update Service program from Sony Ericsson and use it for the update. I’t worked for me

I have the update–and I updated using the SE Windows updater about 10 days ago. It includes all but one of the features promised:( It does not include SMS chat conversation. Very disappointing. SMS chat conversation and youtube were the features I was most anticipating. The update version: 1208-0531: R1DA032: 090204.

As long as there’s no update for Central Europe, could I just change my CDA to North America, install the non-european firmware and use it here in Slovakia? Will there be any differences except missing some european languages?

I have the ME AFR (middle east and africa firmware) but everytime i update on SEUS it says i have the latest firmware, weird? Any ideas

Now maybe I’m being thick, but only thing I see is the Smile Shutter upgrade. No Youtube client, no Conversation SMS, no Wayfinder 8 and no Snapfish by HP. Any ideas?

After updating my C905 all my games and java apps have gone missing. They were all on my memory stick. My music and photos are still there.
Is there any way to my games/apps back?
Does updating to it’s latest firmware will resolve my c905’s faulty #1 keypad problem? Everytime I use the service test, my #1 keypad keeps on appearing as “Camera On”.
