Satio Pulled From Sale In UK

It looks like Satio is to be pulled from sale at the Carphone Warehouse in the UK. The reason for the pull is being cited as software issues, an all too familiar problem for Sony Ericsson handsets. Interestingly enough the silver version of the handset is still available for sale, just not the black version. There’s also no word on whether or not this recall will affect other retailers in the UK or in other countries. It’s an embarrassing move for Sony Ericsson given that they will want to put the past year or two’s seemingly endless parade of bug prone handsets behind them, only to have their current flagship handset yanked from sale.

  3. [...] This doesn’t surprise me at all. Sony Ericsson used to be great before they started cutting costs by usign cheaper parts and not upgrading hardware at the same time as the software. I used a Sony Ericsson Satio in The Carphone Warehouse and I used the camera. I focused it and let go of the shutter button. It remained in focus. The screen shortly froze and after 5 minutes, it restarted. FAIL to the max. All these features such as the 12.1 MP camera are just gimmicky features that aren’t that good at all when tested “Oh, look! My phone has 12.1 MP and your camera has only 10 MP!!. Disgusts me…

Makes me glad I got the W995 instead!

I’ve had my W995 for nearly 5 months now, and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING has gone wrong.

The W995 is an absolute peach of a phone.

Sure, I was tempted by the Satio, but looks like I made the right move here….

Same old Same old – At the moment CPW are exchanging (I am on number 3) and although early days (2)my latest is working well and when it does its a joy to use. I foresee a huge requirement for contractors to sit and upgrade the firmware on all the returns and existing stock in about 10 days when SE release it. Shame that xmas sales dictate whether we get a working £400+ phone or not!@*%!!

Very happy with my Saito, needs a firmware update to sort out some inconsistencies, but it works nicely.

Got a Satio from Car Phone Warehouse just over two weeks ago.  The choice at the time was between an iPhone 3GS or the Satio. It was a close call, but we chose the Satio as it’s camera was better.

Unfortunately the Satio is incredibly slow and at times almost completely unresponsive. I do hear that a firmware update may be released soon to fix this, but I simply can’t find it in me to trust Sony now.

Car Phone Warehouse say they will swap it for another phone, but only from a limited selection of sets. Frankly none of these are close to the iPhone, so I’m not interested.
