Paris Questions & Answers Round

As something new we’ll have a questions & answers round regarding the upcoming ‘Paris’ phone from Sony Ericsson. We’ll try to answer your questions, but please note that we far from know everything there is to know about it. Serious questions only, please.

SE-NSE users, please make use of the commenting system on the blog instead of asking at the forum thread (makes it easier for me and you to keep track of the questions and what has already been asked).

PS. Sorry about all the posts about Paris lately, it must be awfully boring. Unfortunately there are no real other Sony Ericsson news to post about at the moment.

Well. I’ve been unsure about the screen ratio.

Are there any hint’s about “cousins” of Paris in the video?

    Paker,

I let you take care of your business, and you let me take care of my business. Capisce?

    Helmchen,

    No.

Paker: you’re the one who needs to “sth”. Michell is answering every question he knows the answer to, he’s doing his best to quench our thirst for information. Keep in mind that he’s never actually seen the device, the only knowledge he has of it comes from a VIDEO. How can the power of a processor be determined from this?

And if you don’t want to be teased by phones that aren’t on sale yet, you have no business in a Sony Ericsson blog.

To Michell, thank you for delivering us the only worthwhile leak us SE fans have gotten so far this year. That’s all.

Thanks for doing this! This is the best SE blog on the net!

    1. Does the camera software allow for “touch focus” like some of the newly-announced Cybershot phones?

    2. Is there geo-tagging for photos?

Does it have something like proximity sensors that saves power by adjusting brightness depending on lighting condition?

  15. Michell Bak says:

    RoyleMoyle,

Thanks! It should have that (and there are no Cyber-shot branded phones with that feature yet, by the way) ;-)

I am not sure whether geo-tagging will be native or not. But in theory it is possible.

    SuperInggo,

I do not know about that, but I can’t see any proximiy sensors. TV-out – I don’t think so.

    @Michell,

Q1: Ok it doesn’t have a xenon flash… But does it have a LED flash atleast???

If yes, is it single or double LED flash???

Q2: Any idea if it has stereo speakers or just a single one???

Q3: Have you seen on which side is the fast port located on??? On the left side, is that a mini USB port???

Q4: Does it have volume and camera buttons??? I think it does but can you please confirm???

Q5: What is the length of the video of Paris that you have???

Q6: What is the camera lens cover like??? Is it slider lens cover like K790, swivel like P990 or automatic like K850???

I would really appreciate if you can answer all the questions above…

Thanks for everything related to paris… :)

  19. Michell Bak says:

    Harry,

    1. If it has an LED flash, it has to be behind the camera cover.

    2. No idea about the speakers. Think it’s mono.

    3. Fastport is on the left side.

    4. I’ve only got a side view of the left side, and it seems there are some volume keys (looks like +, -).

    5. I’m not the one here at the blog with the video, so I’m afraid I can’t tell you :)

    6. It’s a sliding cover that slides down. Looks quite minimalistic.

  21. SuperInggo says:

if not proximity sensor, shall i call it ambient light sensor? it’s present in K810i and latter models so it’s probably hidden somewhere in P5i? =)

  25. Harry says:

    Thanks!!! :)

    1. Hmm… That means chances of a flash are less as I can’t recall any phone with flash behind the lens cover…

    4. Volume keys on the left??? That’s a surprise… Hope they move it on the right side before announcing…

    6. Lens cover slides down when the phone is hold horizontally, right???

  27. Michell Bak says:

Might be that there is an LED, maybe it’s just at the top, right behind the cover. And yes, it’s sliding down when horizontal.

Ok one more question about the lens cover… He He He… Is the lens cover popping out like K790 or is it almost flat like K550/K770???

    :)

  39. Michell Bak says:

Only thing is that the lens cover on Paris is about half the width and height of the one on G810 ;)

Anyway, let’s close the Q&A session for this time. I really need to get back to some more serious work.

Cheers and thanks for the many questions :)

If I may just add a comment, not a question: The C902 has its flash under its sliding lens cover. So it is entirely possible we will see this on ‘Paris’. Especially considering the C902 is a recently announced phone so should follow SE’s current design styles.

I do have a question but am unsure as to whether I can ask it, as I missed out on this Q&A due to sleep and work. I’d like to ask, so let me know if I can. Thanks. :)

And a huge thanks for the leaks and questions you have already answered, and for putting up with the sh*t some people give you! :D

Michell, I have a P1i as you know, is this ‘Paris’ a worthy upgrade, or should I stick to the P1i?
