GSMArena review of K850

Posted by Michell | September 15th, 2007

GSMArena has finally posted the final review of the upcoming K850. It’s a very good and thorough review, and I’m really impressed by the phone. Definitely my next phone! As a matter of fact, I’m getting it the minute it gets available ;-)
GSMArena has earlier on done a few comparison camera reviews, where K850 was one of the competitors, so I was awaiting the review of the phone. You can find the full review of the prototype model here, and if you’re a bit lazy, then here’s the conclusion:

We believe the Sony Ericsson K850 lives up to the responsibility of being a landmark product in the company portfolio. With rich camera settings, the K850 comes incredibly close to stand-alone digital cameras. The novelties in navigation suggest the K850 will not resort to simply being an upgrade to older Cyber-shot handsets and will be aiming beyond the brand-loyal consumers. However, the first 5 megapixel Cyber-shot will be forced to handle a lot of pressure. It’s been a year since Nokia N95 was introduced, which indisputably outruns K850 in non-cam features. Other tempting 5 megapixel mobiles as LG KU990, Samsung G600, Samsung F700, and Nokia N95 8GB will soon be crowding the cameraphone market. With an expected price tag of about 430 Euro, some users will think twice before buying a K850 at its very release. If the mentioned rival phones get launched at the same time, the domination of Sony Ericsson K850 will put to a serious test.

Sony Ericsson launches Havanna range

Posted by Michell | September 15th, 2007

news-10136-04cbe8236a5c86e55de78b42997e7141.jpg news-10136-960eeb2450ed21216f363f752cfac690.jpgApparently Sony Ericsson has launched the Havana range in a trio of golden handsets exclusive to Vodafone. The Havana trio will include gold variants of W880 & W910, and a new device called V640 with HSDPA.

All three phones will be aimed at the music market as part of Vodafone’s MusicStation service (unlimited download of songs for £1.99 a week).

v640i.jpgIt seems weird that this V640 is music oriented, yet not a Walkman phone. Anyhow, it can support up to 4 GB memory cards and has a dedicated music key (now what’s up with that??). Furthermore it has TrackID and a FM radio. The 2 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom has got no auto focus. It will also be available in a black variant.

Hotaru concept with DramaVIEW

Posted by Michell | September 14th, 2007

hotaru_concept.jpgheart.jpgThis is one of the best and prettiest concepts I’ve ever seen! It’s absolutely stunning, if you ask me. It’s created by WhiteEye, who I personally think could have a future working at Sony Ericsson in the design section - I think that would be great for both him, Sony Ericsson and us consumers, of course ;)
Anyhow, let’s have some detailed information about the concept and the cool (concept-) technology called DramaVIEW. Here’s what WhiteEye wrote at Esato:

Sony Ericsson Hotaru. with DramaVIEW™
A premium-finished clamshell phone with DramaVIEW™ and 3.2 MP AF camera . A part of Beauty Renaissance 2.0 series.

message.jpgAbout DramaVIEW™
It’s a herd of 25 “living” fireflies on the exteior surface of the handset. It’s more than an animation, it’s alive. Your fireflies always continuously move here and there, all the time! When the night comes, their shows just get more and more attractive. You can set them according to your mood, e. g. sad, serious, aggresive, etc (22 preset “emotions” available) then they will adjust their formation, speed and orientation of the movements.

When you get new message, or call, or any notification, the fireflies automatically will arrange themselves into a representative icon.

This is DramaVIEW™. So emotional to view. So dramatic to feel.

Available in Apocalypse Black and Borneo Orchid, Sony Ericsson Hotaru always be your timeless companion–and your best friends’ jealousy as well.

Amazing. Simply amazing.

Mobile-Review has reviewed T650

Posted by Michell | September 13th, 2007

t650_review_mobile-review.jpgI’ve been waiting for the T650 review from Mobile-Review for quite some time now, and it’s finally been published and is in English.

It seems that Eldar isn’t really impressed by the price the phone costs, and says i’s way too expensive, however there will be customers who will buy it just because of the design. Here are some of the last lines of the review;

[...]for example the camera module, but is this what a fashion-savvy solution is all about? Sony Ericsson hasn’t embedded its very best camera either. It turns out that the company’s first attempt to foray into the segment of fashion-conscious phones is, if not a failure, not ever-so successful. This is some helpful experience for Sony Ericsson, so let’s hope the impending devices will be more eye-catching, offering “pure fashion” for their money.

K770 to be available in beige

Posted by Michell | September 13th, 2007

k770_sandy_beige.jpgI think this is the day of the colors at Sony Ericsson. Now the K770 Cyber-shot phone with 3.2 megapixels, auto focus and LED flash light, will also be available in a new color. This one is called ‘Sandy Beige’, but mainly reminds me of a white color. I actually knew about this one coming, but didn’t know it was official already. Weird though, as there aren’t any press images of it, and neither of the ‘Ultra Violet’-variant.

You can check out the live pictures of it and the two other color variants at Planete Nokia, where Virgile posted a comprehensive gallery. Wanna bet that there’s a fourth color, too? ;-)

W660 in white

Posted by Michell | September 13th, 2007

w660_white.jpgWell, in one of my earlier posts today I was talking about how all the Sony Ericsson phones got these new colors and such, and now the W660 is going to be available in white, too! So what’s next, Sony Ericsson? A K850 in white, pretty please?

Back to the W660… This color suits it very well, I think, and makes it one of the prettiest Sony Ericsson handsets on the market right now.

New Bluetooth ball speakers

Posted by Michell | September 13th, 2007

mbs-100.jpgWow! Talk about being innovative, will ya! This new Bluetooth accessory from Sony Ericsson is a set of speakers formed in the shape of a ball. It’s called the MBS-100, and I’m guessing the ‘B’ is for Ball. These speakers have not yet been announced officially, and I’m expecting them to be announced at the MTV Europe Music Awards show or a upcoming announcement in October/November.

I’ve got to say that these speakers have a very cool design, and hopefully they’ll come in a large variate of colors. They look pretty big, I think, so I’m curious about the actual size. They seem to be able to play pretty loud :-) Definitely an accessory I’m gonna have a closer look at!

To check it out yourself, go to this site and select your language first, then Phones and lastly Accessories.

Update! I’m 99.8 % sure I know the designer, who created this ;-)
