Loading ...New Firmwares Out For K850, W910 & W960
Sony Ericsson’s three top models have just received an update to fix some of the problems and bugs in the firmwares. While I have not noticed many bugs in W960, the K850 and W910 does indeed pack quite a few, especially because they were among the first A200 offerings. I have just updated my K850, and Sony Ericsson has definitely been working on this firmware release, that’s for sure! It’s much faster in general, no more lagging in Media, new effects and much faster working in Media, 3D games in particular run much more smoothly now. The camera has been much improved as well, and same goes for video recordings. Another fine new feature is that you can set the phone to vibrate when using the touch sensitive buttons - this works quite well.
Now for some technical stuff. The K850 firmware is called R1EA031, and is not a major release. The W910 firmware is called R1EA030, and has pretty much the same improvements as with the K850. The W960 firmware CDA is called R6G02, and I have yet to decide whether I’ll update my W960 or not. I am liking it as it is now, so there’ll have to be either new features or improvements for me to update

I think there’s an APAC firmware as well, so should apply to yours. You can download the Sony Ericsson Update Service application at SE’s website.
woo hoo! i’ve been waiting for some sort of firmware update for the k850 to fix the issues i’ve heard of from reviews. now i can finally upgrade from my good old w810!
does this update fix the slow acclerometer response or is that coming up in the next “major” update?
There is no slow accelerometer response. Sony Ericsson has developed it so that it checks every second, and if there are any changes, it switches mode.
oh ok i just remembered watching a video of someone demo’ing the k850’s accelerometer on the picture viewer and he always had to tap on the handset just to make it respond.
it might just be me but i’d feel awkward having to tap my phone everytime i wanted to show my pics off. =D
I have a W910i on Vodafone and this afternoon there was no update. I’m not sure what region mine is but I live in New Zealand (South Pacific or Asia Pacific maybe?). Is there any chance you know when Vodafone updates will be available?
I’m not too worried as I don’t have many problems, just 3D games run terribly slow! Also, the media player could be faster. So I want an update but it’s not urgent lol.

Unfotunetly the new FW has a bug with customized look of MEDIA … In LANDSCAPE position MEDIA lose background and all colours in MEdia disappear :/

i can play videos witch i couldnt do with the previous FW
and on mobile networks->GSM/3G now theres a third option that wasnt on my phone before: “HSDPA”, before the update i only have “GSM and 3G” and “GSM only”

Unfortunately I cannot do that, as SEUS locked my K850 when trying to force a second update, as it had flashed it from NORDIC to ADRIATIC the first time. Am quite pissed about that really, never thought that would be possible.

I think that this new soft you were talking about will come soon … because this release of FW really make me furious with those bugs :/ This firmware is one of the worst witch a had … in USER INTEFACE … And self REBOOTS :/

I have a w960i. Would love to get the firmware update. It’s not available on SEUS yet. THe phone’s great but the software is slow as hell - esp. the camera. Need that firmware NOW. Any help or links to d/l it would be great thx.

No, that’s not correct. It’s still located on the CS server / domain.

Upgraded to new firmware on the w910 bout a week ago n found that my application icons when using shortcuts disappeared, still vibrates when using a certain ps3 theme as standard on fone. Runs smoother n a tad quicker but overall themes r just laggy n the fone memory just cant handle quick users.
i tried to update my sek850i phone but update failed… my phone was given to me by my sister from UK. originally, it was Vodafone but i had it opened line and i got to use it here in the Philippines. i really wanted to have my phone update with the latest firmware, so please help me..thanks
I have the W910i. I am really disappointed that the camera can’t zoom. I need a camera which can take good shots of dogs, as i like to take several photos per day of dogs i am working with or training. However, i keep getting “Zoom not possible in this mode”. I tore my hair out for a while until i read that the zoom does’nt work unless you lower the res right down to a very useless 0.3MP resolution. What a MAJOR disappointment. Other than this problem i love the phone. Anyone know if new firmware updates will solve this, or is it a permanent problem with the W910?

P.S. i had the K850i but i HATED that phone. The camera quality was superb, but the fact that it often crashed when i was using it (and the shutter often failed to open) meant that i had to downgrade to a lesser resolution of phone, but one which at least worked. Shame i now find i can’t zoom, making it almost as useless as the K850i.

It’s digital zoom, so there’s no need for being able to zoom, as it would just crop your photo to VGA resolution anyway (0.3 MP). The best result you can get, is by doing a full size photo, and then crop it on your phone or in Photoshop.

Hey i don’t what is wrong with my k850 But i can’t open my game folder or my aplication folder it tells me Operation Failed when i try to open it… I tried resseting the phone and master rest didn’t help me… . my softwear is R1CA029 and when i run my update program it tells me that i have an up too date softwer on the phone…. i don;t know what to doo …Please someone help me fix this…
This is something wrong with memory card , becaus it’s saved to it … I have the same problem , but i reflashed my phone with seus and problem solved . bad bad english
