MWC: X10 Mini Pro

The X10 Mini wasn’t the only offshoot of the X10 on show at MWC tonight; the X10 family got a new sibling in the form of the X10 Mini Pro. Similar to the relationship between Vivaz and the Vivaz Pro the X10 Mini Pro is essentially the same handset as the X10 Mini with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. It’s a wee bit chunkier than it’s sister, but not by much; 120g to the X10 Mini’s 88g and the dimensions are 90×52x18 mm. Again availability is being given as Q2.

    Bloomin SE.

I have to choose between this and the Motorola Milestone now.

Any ideas what version of android it runs?

It is said to be released with 1.6 Donut but if this is coming out towards the summer I’d be [very] surprised if that doesn’t change before then.

Maybe, but check the latest blog post.

I expect the update to the X10 and the X10 Mini/Pro will be related but not simultaneous. My hope would be that the X10 gets updated before the release of it’s babies and that they receive updates in development in the meantime.

Yes I suspect that the X10 will be aimed at the Android ‘power user’ type whilst the minis might be aimed at a more general audience who may not be too fussed about running the latest version of Android.

I think it may appeal to both, certainly to anyone who wants a big powerful handset for every day but then something more pocketable for other occasions. Of course that requires people to be buying the Mini as a second device but I think it may manage some sales that way, it would be the perfect companion for a full size X10…..wouldn’t it be great if they came together as one deal ;)

Engadget has made an hands-on video: X10 mini pro.

Not very revealing but it looks snappy and nice to handle. I still rather have the X10 though :p
