The Unwired website has an extensive hands-on video of a pre-production unit of the XPERIA X1. They claim that though the device was still based on the pre-production hardware, the ROM build was way newer, from early september, so it should be a pretty good indication of how the final firmware will be. The 16 minutes long video, among other things, shows that switching from portrait to landscape mode takes far less time than before and also the panels start much faster than before.

The UI speed has really been improved. It switches between landscape and portrait instantly! The panels also switch much quicker.

impressive speed indeed, upon seeing the media center i notice a walkman 3 like media player! this is nice it defeats the purpose of the windows media player

For sure… but I didn’t really like the “Now Playing” design… as in the configuration of all the buttons… I was expecting something nicer… =P

yes, the now playing interface is less eye catchy than the ones found on new UIQ phones (W960 and the G-series) but at least SE managed to develop a player that will eliminate the need for using the WM player.
