New support page design

Apparently I wasn’t the only one who felt that Sony Ericsson’s former support page could do with a makeover. Sony Ericsson recently updated its looks, and made it completely in tune with the bubbly design of the rest of the website. They’ve also re-organized quite a lot of everything there, making it a lot easier for new consumers to find what they need in a hurry. Have a look yourself over at Sony Ericsson’s support page.

By the way… We’ll soon be updating the theme of the blog yet again. Major theme update this time bringing along many enhancements, such as improved search and a lighter code, as well as a fixed content width making it possible for me to post images up to about 700 pixels in width!

Video: Sony Ericsson’s Upcoming Multi-Device

I bet some of you have checked out the JavaOne conferences, but obviously no-one has gone through them in depth. In one of the videos, Rikko Sakaguchi at Sony Ericsson actually leaks an upcoming phone, well, sort of… After having showcased the video below at the JavaOne conference, Sakaguchi says “actually… you saw the device in the video? That’s something that we’re going to launch this year.” However! If we look closely at a few screenshots from the video, you’ll notice that there’s actually two devices, and not one. Could this be different prototypes for one phone? I mean, Sakaguchi did say “the device”.

Remember, Rikko Sakaguchi is the Senior Vice-President and Head of Product & Application Planning at Sony Ericsson, so it doesn’t get much more official than this.

I must remind you though that this video is almost 2 years old, so a few things might have changed. Now, feel free to let your minds wander.

From JavaOne video.

Sony Ericsson: WiFi Is Dead

john_bernard.jpgIt has been reported that the head of marketing at Sony Ericsson (could this be John Bernard?) has said that “WiFi is dead” and that it’ll soon be replaced by much faster mobile network communications. He also compared WiFi hot spots to the invention of the telephone box.

What do you guys think of this statement?

WiFi Enabler & More Coming Soon

wifi_enabler.jpgwlan_in_a200.jpgThe A200 platform supports WLAN connection, however there are no devices with built-in WLAN. Sony Ericsson is now trying to make up for this by soon announcing a WiFi Enabler accessory, that is most likely to look at work like the FM transmitters, MMR-60 and MMR-70, and make use of the Fast Port connector.

Furthermore, Sony Ericsson is working on a follow-up GPS Enabler, called GPS Enabler 2 (Helmer Fingal II) and also a sport GPS accessory. G900 is reportedly going to come with the GPS Enabler as a part of the consumer package.

How can we be sure of it all? Well, it was leaked in the G700/G900 white papers, which you can at Sony Ericsson’s Developer World.

PS. The WiFi accessory image is of course just a mock-up - the K850 screenshot isn’t, though! :-)
