‘Hello Kitty’ invades the F305

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

hellokitty_f305

It appears that Sony Ericsson is once again teaming up with Sanrio, this time to release a special ‘Hello Kitty’ version of the F305. There aren’t any details as to what it’ll include, but the obvious would be special Hello Kitty content, such as ringtones and wallpapers. The F305 doesn’t support themes, so they can’t include any of those. By the looks of it, this won’t be for the Japanese market…

Sony Ericsson (re)announces James Bond’s new phone

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Sony Ericsson today (re)announced(?) James Bond’s new phone – the C902. Sony Ericsson did the same thing back in 2006 with the silver K800, and they’re now doing it again with a Titanium Silver variant C902.

Apart from the new colour and the fact that it’ll be preloaded with some content from the latest James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, there’s nothing new to this phone.

The “new” C902 will be avaiable for a limited period only. We would have left you with pictures of this new phone, but the press media library has not been updated yet, so you’ll have to do with a regular C902. These two do look a lot like each other, though.

G700 Business Edition – without a camera!

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Along with the five other phones being announced yesterday (well, six, including the J121) was also the G700 Business Edition, which is basically a G700 in a new grey-ish colour without a camera on the back. Still lacking is W-LAN – why, oh why? A business edition G700 should have W-LAN!

The G700 Business Edition will only hit Asia-Pacific regions, so it’s a no go for European and American companies.

Sony Ericsson K550 with Swarovski Crystals!

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

The Sony Ericsson’s K550 was recently spotted in a luxury version, dressed in Swarovski crystals. Although dressing up phones with these crystals is pretty common, what was unusual was the manner in which it was dressed up. On the front case, the crystals are placed around the phone’s display, while on the back they’re encased in such way that they make a round shape and even cover the photo camera’s protective lens! We’re not sure how many users would actually like to buy it, but we’ll leave you with the pics to decide! :-)

There’s no details regarding the price of this luxury edition, and its still unclear whether more such handsets will be available or this one’s just a unique handset combined with the luxurious Swarovski crystals. Regardless of its availability, this luxurious K550 will only have the standard features of this type of handset.

Madonna songs to be bundled on Sony Ericsson phones

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Sony Ericsson has announced an agreement with Warner Music International, enabling music and mobile content from Madonna’s new album, HARD CANDY, to be bundled on selected Sony Ericsson phones in no less than 27 countries.

These selected phones will come in two packages; one with 5 songs, and one with the full album pre-loaded. Both will feature extra mobile content, such as wallpapers and ringtones.

- The evolution of mobile handsets along with technological convergence continues to open up new ways for us to distribute and market our artists’ music. This partnership with Sony Ericsson further expands HARD CANDY’s global promotional reach and puts exciting content from the album direct into the hands of Madonna fans all over the world. Not only that, packaging music from a global megastar with new Sony Ericsson phones will help drive sales of music-enabled devices and contribute to the uptake of mobile music, said John Reid, Vice Chairman WMI and President, Warner Music Europe.

As of this month, selected Sony Ericsson phones with HARD CANDY pre-loaded will be sold in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Venezuela. Another promotional roll-out started in May, affecting Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden.

Can you say MTW760?

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Softpedia reports that the W760 will soon hit Europe in a somewhat crazy new MTV-branded suit, full of colours and patterns, which looks a bit disturbing, in my opinion. This variant will be available in a few weeks starting off in Italy, and is set to retail at about 300 euros, which is actually a tad more than the normal one costs.

When it comes to specifications nothing has changed, as you’d figure, and there are even no reports of added MTV content or alike on the phone, apart from the fact that it apparently will make it a tad easier to stream MTV videos to your phone. Let’s hope this will change, shall we?

Z770 Ducati edition

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

It seems Sony Ericsson in Italy is planning to launch a special Ducati edition Z770 by TIM in July.

Apart from the Ducati-inspired new look, and a set of Ducati branded covers, wallpapers, themes & videos, the Z770 Ducati edition will be no different from the regular Z770. Who cares, though? It’s a well-respected brand, and that’s what’s supposed to be selling this phone, not the phone itself. Apart from that, it’ll also come with a special Ducati branded version of the HBH-220 Bluetooth headset.

A limited special edition variant of Z310 and Z610 has been created for the Orange network by our very own favourite manufacturer. W580im Announced

Monday, January 28th, 2008

w580im.jpg

Sony Ericsson today silently announced the W580im – the i-mode version of the slim W580 Walkman phone, that has been extremely popular in many European countries. The new W580im won’t bring much news apart from the usual i-mode features, that includes an i-mode web browser, iMMS and iMail. Furthermore, the phone supports DoJa, which is a platform for running applications and games.

The W580im was announced in a Style White colour edition – it is yet uncertain whether more colour editions are to be released.

In this article we will take a look back at the year that just passed by our noses. 2007 was indeed a fabulous year for the mobile phone world, and so it was for our favourite manufacturer – Sony Ericsson.
