We’ve already posted about a leaked handset with 1.4GHz CPU and a 720p display with the codename Nozomi which is said to be released in Japan only. The LT18i with codenamed Ayame is more likely a global handset but it has only a FWVGA display with 480×854 resolution.
The proof came from NenaMark1 benchmark where an anonymous user posted up a score of 46.8fps and revealed the processor speed as 1.4GHz and GPU as the Adreno 205. That means it scores 2fps more than the Xperia Arc (44.8fps) and has the same GPU as the Xperia Arc and just a more powerfull CPU. 1.4GHz on the LT18i compared to 1GHz on the LT15i (Arc). This could even be the same single-core Snapdragon S2 chipset (MSM8655T) that is rumoured to be used in the Nozomi.
We believe that the LT18i Ayame will be quite similar to the Xperia Arc. Question to you folks, would you upgrade from your Xperia Arc?
For the past few days I have been monitoring a certain thread over at XDA regarding the Gingerbread update, mainly to find out when SE have released it, and where has it. We know that it is delayed slightly (maybe until tomorrow?), and of course with a post dedicated to the Gingerbread update, they certainly have a few facts, and even a couple of rumours.
For a start, the above image is the latest picture taken of a X10 running Gingerbread. Now what is confusing with this image is that appears to be using the same kernel as the current Android 2.1 update, which would mean that the new range of Xperia phones (like Xperia Arc etc) would still be quicker than having a new kernel for the phone. In fact one user claims that cos of the lack of a new kernel, that it is basically SE trying to release a custom ROM.
Then there is a youtube video of a X10 with Gingerbread:
It appears to be using the old UI for the Timescape widget, but then again since the video is so short it is very hard to form an opinion of the video. All we do know is that the person that posted up the video has said that that this will be out in a few weeks. Hmm. Ok, until we see the video below:
Now this looks a lot more official. Pity it is in chinese hebrew, but Im sure that this is pretty much what the X10 will look like once Gingerbread starts rolling out.
In any case, needless to say that for the update you will need to be running official stock SE software. And my tip to you is to run the generic kit for your region (or location, as thats what they are normally based on). Thankfully, another user at XDA has decided to post most (if not, all) the kits available. Now Ive just had a look at the topic, and I suspect that this is old firmware, so it might just be worth using PC Companion or Sony Ericsson Update Service to make sure you are on the latest firmware, this way not making you too disappointed if you see a “new update”, and then find out it’s not the Gingerbread update that most people want.
The above image is the latest picture of the currently rumoured Xperia Duo. In this picture, it looks very similar to the Xperia Arc, but with a front facing camera. However, in the previous picture, there wasnt a forward facing camera. Then again this picture is much more clearer than the previous one.
There has also been some specs that are also floating around this device: it hosts a 4.5 inch touch screen, a 12MP camera, 1.4Ghz dual core processor, 1.5 GB of RAM and a 2500 mA. You can more detail about the rumoured specs here, who also claim the Xperia Duo will also be known as LT18i, which is where it gets interesting as what we have also found is official documents showing what it should contain.
To sum up my opinion: Are Sony Ericsson working on a dual core Android phone? Yes. Is it going to be called Xperia Duo? Maybe!
We just recognized that se-store.co.uk will offer the new XPERIA Pro in late July (UK). But as you know: SE never knows when they’ll release something or anything
The Sony Ericsson Pro is a full qwerty-keyboard phone with HD-video recording, GreenHeart features (for example charger), WiFi (well, nothing new for Android phones) and with Mobile BRAVIA engine.
A few days ago new pictures of Sony Ericsson ST18, a XPERIA smartphone probably with Android 2.3.3, were leaked. Unfortunately we don’t have many information about it. Probably it has a 1GHZ Qualcomm CPU and an Adreno 205 GPU like Sony Ericsson Arc. But now the good news – the leaked pictures:
A few days ago some pictures with new Sony Ericsson phones were leaked. The one on the left (CK15) seems to be the first non-smartphone this year. It’s an A2-phone with touchscreen (240×400px) and slide-out keyboard. One member of Esato says that its possible name is Sony Ericsson TXT Pro.
Another new phone we have information about is the Sony Ericsson ST18, another XPERIA smartphone. As you know it has a touchscreen because of Android OS. It looks a bit like the XPERIA Mini and Arc – together they are a cheap mixture maybe.
A few days ago a white-paper of the Sony Ericsson WT18i appeared and now disappeared. It seems that it’s another budget phone like W8 and Xperia X8 and only available for Chinese market. Its OS is OPhone 2.5 – a Chinese Android clone which is able to execute every real Android app. It’s features are a Marvell PXA 920, 806 MHz processor, a Walkman player, a 16 M colour TFT, 480×320 pixels and single touch. But there is one thing strange in the picture: It’s launcher. Every HVGA phone has the ‘4-corner-launcher’ but this one not. There are only two solutions for this mistake: a mistake with the display (most possible) or SE adapted the launcher for HVGA.
Some other features: size: 106 x 56.5 x 14.3 mm weight: 110 grams 150 MB internal space, up to 32GB 1200 mAh battery Walkman Player 3.5mm audio jack 480p video-recording
Rumours about Sony Ericsson usually centre around new handsets or when a particular handset will get an update, etc, but Mobile-Review’s Eldar Murtazin, in a personal blog entry, has unleashed a new rumour … that Sony Ericsson might be for sale!
The jist of the speculation centres around an alleged conversation between Sony Ericsson and two Chinese companies back in March where Sony Ericsson is said to have “casually and completely “randomly” asked not whether they are interested to buy the rights to the brand, take all the commitments for the maintenance of offices around the world and content staff.” One of the companies involved is said to have been Foxconn, an electronics company that many of you will probably know better as one of Apple’s suppliers for the iPhone.
This time in higher quality, we can have a look at the upcoming successor to the smallest Sony Ericsson model with a slide-out keyboard. From pictures provided by IT168.com we can notice that the same small factor has been kept. Additionally, the pictures give us an insight into the homescreen of the new Sony Ericsson’s own UXP launcher. After having a closer look, another small, yet very important, detail can be noticed. The device runs on Android 2.3! Could this be the first small-factor device to run Android 2.3 at launch?
Sometimes you just can’t beat a good old fashioned rumour accompanied by some leaked pictures so here we go!
What you see here are what are purported to be leaked images of a Sony Ericsson Windows Phone 7 device. Are the pictures real? Well from what I have been able to tell so far the consensus is yes, or at least it could be an early prototype, but the jury is still out so don’t put too much faith in these pictures yet. One source whom I trust is siding on the side of saying they are indeed the real deal, but as I say keep that pinch of salt at the ready.
If they do prove to be real then we have a full blown QWERTY slider from Sony Ericsson, somewhat reminiscent of the X1. Rumours of a Sony Ericsson Windows Phone 7 device have abounded for a while now of course, not the least of which was Julie, but that was thought to have been scrapped. Maybe this is Julie and the pictures are simply old? Maybe it is something new?
One thing that does seem odd here though is Sony Ericsson going down the Windows Phone 7 route after having recently announced the Xperia Play. Why is that odd? Well simply put Sony Ericsson (and Sony) are trying to launch what is essentially a new gaming platform on Android and doesn’t it seem just a little bizzarre that Sony Ericsson should them commit to a platform with a completely separate, and rival, gaming platform?
At any rate enjoy the pictures!
UPDATE: rog confirms my own suspicions that this is indeed an old prototype that has since been cancelled.
