More on the upcoming Xperia X8

Saturday, June 19th, 2010
X10 too much for you? X10 mini too small for you? Then pay attention to this- “First (Official) Glimpse” of the upcoming X8 (aka Shakira) fresh from the Sony Ericsson Product Launch blog.

As usual my friend Albin has shot a short video clip showing off his XPERIA X8, comparing it to the X10 products and giving a first glimpse of it.It can be seen as the middle sister to the X10 products size-wise but will as told earlier be somewhat of a baby sister when it comes to price. Something we think will make it very attractive to an even bigger target group. As always remember that these videos are done on prototype hardware and pre-release software so things can of course change until release.Have a great weekend!

Unfortunately the video doesnt say much about the X8 itself except for the fact that it has a full QWERTY touchscreen keyboard like the X10 and the corner shortcuts from the X10 mini. So we turn to Rog’s review from se-first.com….

Our impression
Although the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 looks like being a phone between the Xperia X10 and the x10 mini, it really is meant to be the entry phone to the Xperia line (‘My first Xperia’). However, we definitely think that it is also an absolutely viable option for those who are looking for an Android powered phone that comes in a handy, yet usable form factor and size.
On the negative side one certainly has to consider the low camera resolution with no autofocus option. Another cause for complaint will most probably be the Android version 1.6, which is considered to be outdated for quite some time now already. It is however expected that the complete Xperia line will get an update to a more up to date Android version sometime in Q3 this year.

SE-Blog.com Reviews Satio

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

Michell has just complete a top notch review of Satio over on his blog se-blog.com. As usual it’s a nice long look at the handset, and as usual well worth a read. You may have read other reviews of Satio, but you know they aren’t going to be as in-depth and encompassing as Michell’s so go take a look … NOW!

W995 Final Impressions

w995-kickstand-front

The W995- king of the Walkmans. It was announced a few months ago and released just recently. As you may have noticed, we’ve already done a review of the handset. Thing is, it was written based on a prototype of the W995 and that’s why we’ve decided to write a “final impressions” piece after having used a retail version of the phone. We’re quite happy, actually and here’s why… (more…)

Three new W995 reviews straight from Sony Ericsson World YouTube channel

Sunday, May 24th, 2009

Sony Ericsson has managed to get Tom Dunmore, editor in chief of Stuff magazine; UK-based producer, Rob Lewis and film critic, Jaspreet Pandahar, each to do a short advertisement video review of Sony Ericsson’s upcoming Walkman king – the W995. Honestly, they sound more like representatives reciting the phone’s features rather than unbiased reviewers, so the whole thing looks kind of dubious. I can’t say I expected anything else, though. Here are the videos themselves:

Sony Ericsson W715 review up

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

The review many of you have been waiting for is finally finished! Sony Ericsson’s very own W715 has been described in detail by yours truly. What’s curious is that it’s actually a double review of the W705 and the W715, since they’re pretty much the same. There are also lots of photos, UI pictures and galleries. I would like to thank Michell for taking the photos of both the W715 and the C510 and for generally helping me out while I was composing the article.

So, we’re quite positive about the phone, really. It’s both elegant and sleek, has Wi-Fi and GPS and boasts superior audio quality. The price is also pretty adequate. Have a look right here:

W508 review at GSMArena

w508-gsmarena

And here we have yet another review straight from the GSMArena testing grounds. It’s about the mid-end W508 walkman clamshell – W980’s little sibling. Ther review is generally quite positive. They praise the sound quality (save for the frequency response), its overall functionality, considerigng it’s a mid-range phone, and the attractive price. Hit the source link to have a look at it.

T707 review at GSMArena

t707-gsmarena

Here we have another review from the folks at the popular mobile phone site GSMArena. This time it’s about the (relatively) recently announced fashion clamshell – the T707. It’s glitzy, it’s shiny and it’s glowy. Oh, the review itself is quite positive as well (sans a few remarks and a rather stupid conclusion).
Just follow the source link to have a look.

Sony Ericsson W995 review online, screenshots coming soon!

Friday, April 10th, 2009

Our large review of the upcoming Sony Ericsson W995 is finally online! Believe it or not, we started work on this review back in February, but because I’ve been rather busy we’ve not been able to publish it until now. Our review is based on prototype units running very early firmware versions. This means that some features either did not work or were missing, and our review will reflect this. Some sections of the review are rather short compared to our usual standards because of the prototype firmware, but we will naturally update the review with our thoughts of the retail version when it hits the stores in 2½ months.

I have yet to include screenshots in the review, but they’ll come soon. There are quite a few images to upload, and I thought you’d rather have the review without all the pictures early on. Many of the screenshots will be similar to the ones from the C510 and C905 review, so you can just check them out, if you want. In short, the W995 is Sony Ericsson’s best feature phone to date.

C510 review live

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Today our own review of the C510 saw daylight. It’s full of hi-res photos of the handset, sample pictures and of course plenty of information about this little Cyber-shot. Generally, we feel that this is a very good phone with a great price and a probable bestseller. You can find the review here:

PS. It’s also my first review. I hope you enjoy it. :)
