X10’s 2.3.3 update – This week?

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011
A lot of us can’t wait for the 2.3.3 update to arrive and now it seems like Sony Ericsson will push it to the X10 before August – this week!
Sony Ericsson posted on Facebook that they planed to roll out the update in W30, that means it should start between the 25th July and 31st July.
But don’t forget that the exact date can vary for each region. Maybe we in Germany get it before the guys in the UK or the other way round.

Here’s the official post from SE:

The launch of the 2.3 software for X10 is getting closer, and the planned release date is approx. w30. The date could still be changed, since the launch is depending on operators approval”

Sony Ericsson releases Panorama App for Xperia X10

Saturday, June 11th, 2011
Sony Ericsson released a new app called “Panorama beta” that is available for free in the Market.
The app is very easy to use.
You have 4 arrows, on for each direction. To make a panorama you just have to click on an arrow and move the X10 in that direction and it will make a nice panorama.
I already tested the app myself and I have to say it works fine. Even if you shake the X10 a bit while making the panorame the pic will be fine.

For now the app is only available for the X10 with Android 2.1.

XPERIA Pro – now in July?

Friday, June 10th, 2011

We just recognized that se-store.co.uk will offer the new XPERIA Pro in late July (UK). But as you know: SE never knows when they’ll release something or anything ;)

The Sony Ericsson Pro is a full qwerty-keyboard phone with HD-video recording, GreenHeart features (for example charger), WiFi (well, nothing new for Android phones) and with Mobile BRAVIA engine.

SE announced Mix Walkman™ phone and txt pro

Thursday, June 9th, 2011
As we already posted there was a competition (you were able to apply to SE and say why you want to review one of the new phones) a few weeks ago. Now the winners were chosen and four of their reviews will be published at SE’s Facebook page.

Left side: txt Pro | Right side: Mix Walkman

Above you can see the new Sony Ericsson phones. The one with the keyboard is the txt pro, the other one is the Mix Walkman. The OS of them is SE’s own, like the one from Yendo.

At first a few Mix Walkman details and features:

It’s a touch phone (as you already know) with a Walkman-related feature called Zappin. Let me quote the explanation: “[...] ZappinTM lets you browse through your songs in a fun way by automatically being served the chorus of the songs while skipping through them” It also has a karaoke mode that tries to lower the vocal track of your songs. There is even a way to change its look: The band around the edges is changeable!

Now some txt pro specifications:

It is designed for communication – that’s why it has a full qwerty keyboard. It has social applications pre-installed to stay connected with your friends from facebook and twitter.

They both have Wi-Fi, the four-corner interface and will be launched in Q3.

Do you think the Mix Walkman is the new phone for Walkman fans?

at&t finally updates the X10 to 2.1!

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011
Since today you can finally update your at&t branded X10 to Android 2.1 with SEUS or PC Companion.
You’ll get features like 720p HD video recording and multitouch, well it’s dualtouch, and a new interface.
It’s good that they finally update it, but I’d say 7 months after the release of 2.1 it’s way too late. Now we’re all waiting for 2.3.3…
Firmwareversion is 2.1.A.0.492, baseband is 2.1.65 and it’s still rootable with FlashTool.

Xperia Play Launching 1st April, Neo Last Week Of March

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

Ever since we’ve laid our eyes on leaked images and information regarding the Xperia Play and Neo and since Sony Ericsson finally announced them, all of us have tried to figure out when will they be released and how much will they cost.

The Xperia Play will launch in the last week of March according to David Hilton, Sony Ericsson UK’s Marketing Director. Whilst the Xperia Play will be with the operators and retailers in the last week of March Sony Ericsson have asked them to embargo sales until the 1st of April (or rather midnight on 31st March). David Hilton explained:

What we are going to do for the Xperia Play to make sure it has the most impactful launch is whilst we will ship it in the end of March we’re asking all of our customers to effectively embargo sales until the 1st of April so that on that Friday you can go into any channel and be able to buy. So technically it’s the 1st of April and people might say you’ve let us down it’s not Q1, but we will ship it into the market in Q1“.

The handset will launch on pretty much all UK operators and retailers in an effort to make it as broad a proposition as possible. This was a conscious decision “We believe that for Sony Ericsson as a business … the consumers are better served by having it across all channels so we don’t want to restrict it to customers who can only buy it through one network“.

Commenting on game pricing Hilton said “The expectations I’ve been set are probably between two to three pounds maybe up to ten pounds“.

Turning to the Neo we’re probably looking at a late March release for that handset too with Hilton commenting that Sony Ericsson “… had a very high level of confidence that the Xperia Neo … will be shipped in the lst week of March“.

Pre-ordering prices:

Xperia Play: £539.99
Neo: £374.99

Both do not have a Retail Price established yet so we will have to wait until important carriers such as Vodafone or O2 introduce them in their offers.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro In Stores NOW!

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010
Those who were waiting for the QWERTY version of the Vivaz, the Vivaz Pro can rejoice. The phone is finally being shipped to stores in ’selected markets’. Pricing is not yet available and should vary depending on markets; more on that as it comes in ….

For those who don’t quite know, the phone is marginally thicker than the standard Vivaz and packs a 4-row QWERTY keypad but unfortunately has a 5MP Camera instead of the 8MP camera on the standard Vivaz. If any of you do get your hands on one, do post your experience with it on our forum …..

Official Announcement

Thanks for heads up NBA Fan.

Vodafone Starts X10 Pre-orders: April 6th Delivery

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

The Xperia X10 is getting closer by the day and you could have one in less than a week. After what seems like an eternity of watching the device lose popularity and appeal while gaining tough competition I have no doubt that the sales of this device won’t reach the heights they might have done with a smoother and more timely release but at least it’s getting carrier support. After T-Mobile started to take orders last week, Vodafone are now also preparing to ship the device and have even given a delivery date of the 6th of April, a mere 6 days from now.

Voda haven’t been quite as generous with their price plans as T-Mobile though (who will sell you an X10 for as little as £10/month), offering a choice of only £35 or £40 tariffs but with the phone free on either.  However, at least they have set a date unlike T-Mobile who are still showing the same “up to 10 days” they did 9 days ago!

Orange and o2 meanwhile are yet to list any specifics on the X10. We do know that Orange will be the only network to have the white variant but at the time of writing the Orange website simply lists “out of stock”

Xperia X10 heading To O2-UK (Surely)

Friday, February 26th, 2010

It seems that the Xperia X10 will be heading to O2-UK after they posted a pretty big give away on their site. There’s no clue as to when it should arrive just yet but the fact that their “Smart phones” page is now showing the X10 at front centre in their apparent lineup suggests that it can’t be far away.
