The newly announced products

Posted by Michell | June 21st, 2008

On the 17th of June Sony Ericsson invited me for their press event in Amsterdam. The day started as usual with a slide show by the head of Sony Ericsson in Benelux. At first he wanted to remind us of the fact that Sony Ericsson has already sold 66.5 million Walkman phones and 22 million Cyber-shot phones. Here some more numbers about Sony Ericsson as a brand;

Paris & BeiBei Cancelled

Posted by scotsboyuk | June 20th, 2008

As some may already be aware both Paris and the G702, otherwise known by the codename BeiBei, have both been cancelled. Whilst this might not be news to some of you we have a new twist on the story that might be. There is the suggestion that both of these handsets were cancelled due to a large volume of criticism from reviewers and other industry watchers, including recent articles on Mobile-Review.com

The story doesn’t end there because we are hearing that whilst Paris and the G702 may have been cancelled in Europe, they might still make an appearance in Asia.

Sony Ericsson’s TM506 spied at FCC

Posted by karun | June 19th, 2008

A new Sony Ericsson handset called the TM506 has been spotted at FCC. Besides 3G, it also features Bluetooth, aGPS, a memory card slot and a camera of unknown quality, Web browser, Web feed, Instant Messaging, Picture and video blogging, Music and Video players, MusicDJ, USB, Voice command, embedded games, file manager, organizer, calendar and expandable memory. The draft document also suggest that the TM506 can access TV and streaming videos. The TM506 has dual-band GSM/EDGE 850/1900. The user manual notes that it also has WCDMA 1700/2100 and one can’t overlook the T-Mobile branding which earmarks it for T-Mobile USA.

When available, the TM506 will be the only Sony Ericsson phone from T-Mobile’s line-up, and one of the few to come with 3G connectivity.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 hands on

Posted by karun | June 17th, 2008

X1

The folks at Boy Genius Report have managed to get their hands on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1.  So what’s their verdict?  Right from the 800×480 VGA screen, optical joystick, speedy HSDPA , the device impresses, and  you really can’t throw any more specs in! With looks to die for, its not surprising that the X1 is the  #1 Windows Mobile device people are waiting for.  Their Sony Ericsson X1 gallery doesn’t have any shots of the Panel interface, so for now you’ll have to make do with some shots of the nice looking exteriors of the device.

Sony Ericsson C905 black live photos

Posted by Michell | June 15th, 2008

These live photos of the black version of the upcoming Sony Ericsson C905 have just been posted at the Arabic Sony Ericsson fan site, SE4M.com. I quite like the look of it, although it seems fairly thick and a bit heavy, at almost 20 millimetres in thickness and 136 grams on the weight scales.

Mobile-review takes a look at G702

Posted by Michell | May 29th, 2008

In a recently published article at Mobile-review.com, editor in chief Eldar Murtazin takes a look at his G702 prototype, running UIQ 3.3. In the article he covers most areas of concern, and there are lots of nice photos included in the article.

If you have not read it yet, I’d suggest you to head over to Mobile-review, and check it out now.

Want a G702? You can buy one. Seriously.

Posted by Michell | May 28th, 2008

User captainsm over at Esato is selling out of his small stock of unannounced black G702s, and has already sold one, with only one left, unless you can convince him to sell you his third and last G702 for a higher price. He’s got pictures of the unit over at Esato as well.

He wants £400 for it, and for that amount of money you get a G702 boxed with charger, battery, headset and a USB-cable. Check it out!
