Sony Ericsson LT18i Ayame benchmark leaked

Thursday, August 11th, 2011
We’ve already posted about a leaked handset with 1.4GHz CPU and a 720p display with the codename Nozomi which is said to be released in Japan only.
The LT18i with codenamed Ayame is more likely a global handset but it has only a FWVGA display with 480×854 resolution.

The proof came from NenaMark1 benchmark where an anonymous user posted up a score of 46.8fps and revealed the processor speed as 1.4GHz and GPU as the Adreno 205.
That means it scores 2fps more than the Xperia Arc (44.8fps) and has the same GPU as the Xperia Arc and just a more powerfull CPU. 1.4GHz on the LT18i compared to 1GHz on the LT15i (Arc).
This could even be the same single-core Snapdragon S2 chipset (MSM8655T) that is rumoured to be used in the Nozomi.

We believe that the LT18i Ayame will be quite similar to the Xperia Arc.
Question to you folks, would you upgrade from your Xperia Arc?

Sony Ericsson WT18 – another Walkman-Android?

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011
SE WT18

A few days ago a white-paper of the Sony Ericsson WT18i appeared and now disappeared. It seems that it’s another budget phone like W8 and Xperia X8 and only available for Chinese market. Its OS is OPhone 2.5 – a Chinese Android clone which is able to execute every real Android app. It’s features are a Marvell PXA 920, 806 MHz processor, a Walkman player, a 16 M colour TFT, 480×320 pixels and single touch. But there is one thing strange in the picture: It’s launcher. Every HVGA phone has the ‘4-corner-launcher’ but this one not. There are only two solutions for this mistake: a mistake with the display (most possible) or SE adapted the launcher for HVGA.

Some other features:
size: 106 x 56.5 x 14.3 mm
weight: 110 grams
150 MB internal space, up to 32GB
1200 mAh battery
Walkman Player
3.5mm audio jack
480p video-recording

[Leak] Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot smartphone?

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011
Many Sony Ericsson fans asked for a new Cyber-shot phone and now it may become real! Soemone leaked some very blurry and unclear pictures where you can see a phone and the texts ‘Sony Ericsson’ and ‘Cyber-shot’ on it. Probably it’s a fake or a early prototype and it looks a bit ‘iPhoneish’ in my opinion.

Unfortunately we can’t see the backside so we don’t know if there is a Xenon flash, how many megapixels it has and if it has optical zoom. As you can see in the picture below there are the common Android buttons so maybe it’ll have latest Android from SE. Anyways it looks a bit ugly, what do you think?

Update: X10 Multi-touch Why Did SE Say It Might Come?

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

After the news that the X10 would not support multi-touch some were asking why there had been a comment from SE back in November that it might do at some future point and I discussed a couple of theories as to what may have been going on yesterday. Today Sumit Malhotra, the chap who made the original comments back in November, made a post explaining his remarks:

Back in November, I posted that X10 will not support multi touch functionality at launch, but will be considered for the future. I can appreciate that even though there wasn´t a commitment, such wording both creates expectations (small or big) on future support and implies restrictions on software side.

That is the information I had in hand at that point of time. I am well aware that you rate multi touch functionality very high and therefore I regret to inform you that X10 screen hardware does not register simultaneous entries. Meaning even though we will upgrade the underlying operating system in relation to upgrading our user experience layer, X10 will not support multi touch functionality. We believe that it is important for you who follow this blog to be clear on that, which is the reason why I want to confirm Rikard’s comment.

We are working on alternative solutions for certain use cases, like zooming. I will share more details about that initiative once confirmed.

Due to vendor understanding and agreements, we don´t discuss in detail regarding hardware specifications. Having said that, X10 is upgradable and as earlier described there will be significant value offered through upgrades. X10 is about to reach stores and early consumer feedback is very positive, also highlighting room for improvement which we will share in due time.

Regards,
Sumit

It looks to be a simple case of misinformation as I suggested yesterday. Whilst it’s certainly annoying and has probably caused some people to get their hopes up I do hope that Sony Ericsson don’t see this as negative mark against their Product Launch Blog, which is quite frankly the best customer experience programme to have come out of the company in years.

Thanks to Malcolm for posting up Sumit’s comments.

Livepics & video of S312, W205 and MS410

Huge Idou gallery reveals real code name

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

Over at fony.sk, a huge gallery of Sony Ericsson’s upcoming Idou was published. The gallery covers all aspects of the phone, and even includes a few 16:9 camera samples (4000 x 2250 pixels) – which reveal the real code name of the phone. The EXIF information lists the camera model as Kokoro, which is hardly a surprise. The samples pictures aren’t any good at fony, because they’re shot in low light. However, we’ve seen a few other shots with the Idou, and it’s got an amazing camera. We’re really looking forward to getting our hands on one! Oh, and just for the record – the full resolution pictures come out in 4000 x 3000 pixels.

By the way, here’s the gallery on fony.

Sony Ericsson leaks the T707 (Elle), and mentions M610 and P3

Monday, March 9th, 2009

Don’t you just love official ‘oops’ leaks? I most certainly do, and today just happens to be a day housing one of these ‘oops’ leaks.

The Chinese mobile and gadgets website IT168 recently published a series of photos from an official Sony Ericsson press conference, and on a few of the photos appeared some unannounced phones – the M610, T707 and P3.

The T707 is the most interesting of the bunch, as it’ll get announced shortly. Its codename is Elle, and it’ll come in a variety of colour variants. We know of five variants, but there may be more. From the photo we can say that the phone will be a quad-band GSM / dual-band UMTS/HSPA (up to 7.2 Mbps) phone, and it measures 93 x 50 x 14 millimetres. It’ll weigh 98 grams. It will feature a 2.2-inch TFT display. It seems to come with a 1 GB Memory Stick Micro card, and it’ll be based on the OSE operating system by Enea, just like most of Sony Ericsson’s other feature phones. Its hardware platform seems to be the Ericsson EMP U330.

And then out of the blue comes a photo of the 2007 portfolio with mentionings of the M610 and P3. The picture of the Walkman phone is apparently P3 (not true – and a fake picture, too). Not only is it weird that they included these two phones in the presentation, but it is more weird that they even got the picture of the P3 wrong. Shame on you, Sony Ericsson, for mentioning cancelled phones…

Video: Sony Ericsson W995 preview

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Here’s our 17-minute video preview of the Sony Ericsson W995, which was announced last Sunday. The video includes parts about the design, comparisons with other devices, including the C901 and C903, and of course a fairly thorough walk-through of the user interface and some of the features. Please keep in mind that the phones shown in the video are very early prototypes running very early software. The icons are messed up at the moment, the Walkman player seems to be going through some kind of restructuring, and several features are missing.

The video was a pretty quick job. Didn’t have much time to edit it (not that it would have been much better, but still…), so you’ll have to live with me dropping the phones, etc., now and then.

You might also want to check out our large gallery of the W995, which was posted right here, in case you haven’t done so already.

We’re taking a sneak peak look at the Sony Ericsson W995

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

We’ve got our hands on not one, not two, but three prototype units of the new Sony Ericsson W995. Now, I haven’t got much time on my hands at the moment, so I’ll just post a series of very quick – and I do mean very quick – pictures of the phones. It’s a very, very, very nice handset and definitely something I won’t be without!

You can of course find out more about the W995, that was announced just a few days ago, right over here!

We’ll post a preview of the W995, along with the C901 and C903, over the next few days. Once the retail units hit the shelves, we’re also going to give away three Sony Ericsson W995 retail units, along with a lot of other devices, so stay tuned :)

Decent video walkthrough of Idou

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Engadget has posted a video walkthrough of the Sony Ericsson Idou. It looks superb, don’t you think? :) Such a smooth interface already, and the platform is far from finished. Incredible.
