Sony Ericsson video Q&A and X1 video demo

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

A very interesting video Q&A with Sony Ericsson’s President, Hideki Komiyama, and Rikko Sakaguchi, Senior Vice President and Head of Portfolio & Proposition at Sony Ericsson, was posted at Trace and Matt’s Blog. Komiyama tells that they’re definitely working on innovative products and that they’re aware of their problems. It’ll take three to four months (and yeah, we agree!). Also, Rikko Sakaguchi tells that they know that they cannot keep on segmenting products, and he even comments on the JavaOne video on YouTube. That made me giggle a bit :-)

Also, a comprehensive video demo of the X1 was posted. Check it out!

By the way, if you’re wondering what’s happening with the various embedded Sony Ericsson applications on USEB, that’s simply a part of SE’s blogger and community outreach. They’re also going to set up a number of competitions for both readers and blog authors, so keep an eye out on this place. If you’ve got dreams of starting your own SE blog, now would be a good time to do it, too :-) They’re really doing a great job keeping up with the web communities nowadays, latest with the launch of Xperiancers.com.

BeiBei in France

Friday, September 5th, 2008

We’ve collected a set of photo samples by the Sony Ericsson G702, codenamed BeiBei, which was unfortunately cancelled. I liked this phone quite a bit. Anyway, here’s BeiBei in France. Press the thumbnails below for the camera samples.

W302, W595 & W902 previews at PhoneArena

Friday, August 1st, 2008

It looks like PhoneArena has been busy previewing the latest Sony Ericsson Walkman phones. Yesterday the PhoneArena team published three previews – one of each of the newly announced phones.
You can find the previews in the links below;

Sony Ericsson W302
Sony Ericsson W595
Sony Ericsson W902

I’m sure some of you had seen the initial prototype W760 screenshots displaying a revamped equalizer menu, but it was removed in the retail product. If you’re a bit attentive with the W902 preview, you’ll notice why it was removed from the W760.

Sony Ericsson G700 preview

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

The G700 is Sony Ericsson’s cheapest smart phone to date, and it’s probably also the nicest one to use. Is it a bargain or a failure? You can read our preview of the G700 to find out :)

PS. It’s not a failure… :D

PhoneArena previews the C905

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

PhoneArena just published their preview of the upcoming Sony Ericsson C905 with the great 8 mega pixel camera on the back.

The preview isn’t that long, but there’s a really nice collection of photos and two 360 degree views, where you can really see how great the shiny back looks. Looks a bit like chrome, doesn’t it? Perhaps it is! Also included in the preview are some camera samples, and they’re – as you expected – the results of the best mobile camera out there, even in its early prototype stages. The C905 can easily knock out a mediocre compact camera once it’s released, I’ll bet you on that.

You can find the preview right here.

[thanks, Tim!]

GSMArena previews the C905

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

The guys at GSMArena have already had their hands on the new Sony Ericsson C905, and have today published a rather large preview of this camera king. In the review, you’ll find tons of beautiful photos as well as loads of well-written paragraphs about the phone. It’s most definitely worth a look.

Check it out yourself over here :-)

Previewing the Sony Ericsson C702

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

I’ve just finished writing up my first large-scale preview, debuting with a C702 preview. Here’s the excerpt for ya’:

The Sony Ericsson C702 is the new junior Cyber-shot phone, featuring a decent 3.2 mega pixel camera with auto focus and face detection, as well as a revamped user interface compared to the K550, which seems to be its predecessor. When announced, the C702 was offically the first GPS-enabled phone by Sony Ericsson, adding the ability to geo-tag your photos, when connected to GPS satelites. To further enhance the C702’s camera abilities, Sony Ericsson got the C702 IP54-certified, meaning it is more or less dust proof and splash resistant from all angles. This will enable photography enthusiasts to take photos in more extreme conditions than previously possible.

Read the full preview right here.

Note: This is not a review, but a preview based on about 26 hours with the C702. I will not be posting a review of C702, so you’ll have to do with this.

Preview: Sony Ericsson G900

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

It has been on the market since this Monday: The new touch-and-go UIQ3 smart phone G900, a powerful package of WLAN, 5MP camera with Auto- & Touch-Focus as well as a photo light and a 2.4″ touch screen combined with a regular keypad to bring UIQ to the mass market.

The G900 you can see here is my little precious since Tuesday and it does great so far. The Dark Brown colour really suites it well. The QVGA display is bright and clear and a breeze to handle. I won’t give that much away for now as we’ll post an in-depth review of the G900, once Sony Ericsson sends us the review phone.

I’ll leave you with impressions of the new menu icons, the media menu and the new panels standby.

The G900 is available nearly everywhere now, pricing is set around £275 / 350 € / $525.

Mobile-review takes a look at G702

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

In a recently published article at Mobile-review.com, editor in chief Eldar Murtazin takes a look at his G702 prototype, running UIQ 3.3. In the article he covers most areas of concern, and there are lots of nice photos included in the article.

If you have not read it yet, I’d suggest you to head over to Mobile-review, and check it out now.
