If you’re a UIQ 3 user, and you’ve got an older smart phone (before G700 & G900), you can actually add some functionality to it by installing some applications from the G700/G900 firmwares. After only having been released, the G700 & G900’s firmwares have been somewhat hacked, and a group of people have extracted some of the applications, making them available for all current UIQ 3 users. Currently, the torch application as well as the highly anticipated notes application have been extracted, and are available at UIQBlog.com with an install guide :-)

I must remind you that this is probably not supposed to happen, and I’m quite sure Sony Ericsson won’t be too thrilled about it, so you might want to do some thinking before installing these.

As promised here’s a camera sample from the G702 also known as Beibei. As said earlier on, this phone packs the best fixed focus camera I’ve seen in any camera phone, and on the software side of things, Sony Ericsson has really upped its game. Even though this is a really good sample considering it’s a prototype, it can actually do better than this - at least it does do better in a few other samples I’ve got, although these can’t be shared (obvious reasons). We’ve removed pretty much all the EXIF data not to reveal too much, once again, our reasons are quite obvious. Press the thumbnail for full view.

As you probably can see the keypad is illuminated blue :)

People! The storm is coming, and we just beat Sony Ericsson at announcing it. We’re of course talking about the mysterious, super high-end smart phone, often referred to as ‘Paris’.

We’ve gotten our hands on the official product video of Paris, and even though we won’t be able to show you the video at this point in time (wait two weeks!), we can show you a few screen shots from the video with the most crucial parts blurred out a bit.

Paris will feature a full keyboard in known P1-style - below the screen, that is! Why? Well, Paris is a slider! It looks drop-dead-gorgeous and is set to slay, yes SLAY, other competitors on the market. It runs UIQ 3.3, and well, have a look at the picture. That pretty much says it all.

Paris will be announced before the end of May, and will be available in shops as early September! We haven’t got a price tag on this baby as of yet, but we’ll definitely be trying to sniff it up! So, picture after the jump! We’ll show you a picture of the back a bit later on :) Continue reading “Exclusive: Unveiling Sony Ericsson ‘Paris’”

My boss from work is currently finding himself at this year’s MWC, and last night he was enjoying himself with the latest Sony Ericsson offerings. In this video, he and official Sony Ericsson representatives - including Dee Dutta (!) - are taking a look at the new C902 Cyber-shot phone, the XPERIA X1 multimedia smart phone & the W980 Walkman phone. The video is mainly in English, so don’t worry about it being a Danish video :-) Press the picture below to go to the 6 minute long video.

‘Paris’ is the codename of the speculated high-end phone P5.
Sliding keyboard and different home screens you can navigate between by pressing left and right. Also, we’ve got a sliding mechanism on the back of the phone as a lens protector for the camera. “5 MP” is also stated on the back near the camera. It comes with a stylus even though the user interface can easily be used with your finger as well. It’s black and a bit smaller than P1. It has a built-in GPS (NaviLink 5.0 NL5350) with WayFinder 7.0 built-in as well as a weather application and the new Opera Mobile 9 with intelligent zoom and widgets. Based on OMAP34xx hardware platform.

Paris is going to be announced along with Beibei, if everything goes as planned, which it should.
