MIDEM is a music market exhibition, and Sony Ericsson will take part of this on the 24th to the 27th of January. Although I already knew this, the invitations to the event has been sent to different web sites now, and here it is.

This will mainly be used for announcing details on the upcoming PlayNow Arena platform, but I’d beat that a few Walkman phones featuring this new platform will be announced.

According to an article at Digitimes, Sony Ericsson is revising its product orienting and channel strategy. This is because their plans of pushing low-end phones (less than 100 Euro) to the market didn’t come out as expected. The sales were below the expected and I’m thinking this is why Sony Ericsson’s market share fell a bit in Q3.
I guess this means good times for all us high-end users!

A Swedish study by the operator Telia has shown that Sony Ericsson phones are likely to be the ones most people wish for Christmas. 8.000 people were asked and about a third was hoping for a mobile phone this year. Furthermore, 61% of this third wanted a Sony Ericsson phone.
This of course is not a study that should be taken too seriously. Sony Ericsson has a large market share in Sweden and the Swedes tend to like Sony Ericsson more than other brands.

J.D. Power has announced that Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications’ handsets has scored the highest in overall customer satisfaction among American and Canadian consumers in the latest survey.
Sony Ericsson ranked highest in features, battery life, physical design, opeartion and durability among the American consumers. The manufacturers are ranked in different categories, and can at maximum achieve a perfect 1000 score, however it is extremely unlikely that this will ever happen.
These results reflected Sony Ericsson’s strong commitment to the North American market, said Najmi Jarwala, who’s the President of Sony Ericsson North American market. This is a market where SEMC has struggled to gain market share, but things seem to be turning now.

Just as I was going through my huge archive of Sony Ericsson stuff on my computer, I found this picture, which pretty much is an overview of Sony Ericsson as “a global company”. It shows where “things happen” - manufacturing, development, corporate functions and lastly sales & marketing. It’s from around the 20th of April, so it’s not brand new & probably not completely up to date. Anyhow, it’s pretty interesting to look at. Don’t forget to press the image to enlarge it. Enjoy
