Is this a Sony Ericsson K850i variant?

The pictures you are looking at are probably of a variant of Sony Ericsson’s flagship 5 megapixel camera phone – the K850i. There were rumours floating around about the existence of such a phone and these pictures from www.pconline.com.cn confirm them all the more. The variant, which should be indexed in the K8xx series, will have a manual shutter and physical soft keys rather than the touch keys found on the K850i. The missing Xenon flash is a bit of a shock and the overall design of the phone seems in line with the T-series rather that the K-series. Speculated specifications hint at a 16 million display screen and GPS positioning service. Let’s see if we see this one at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Sony Ericsson to release ‘Quicksilver Black’ variant K850

This just got in. Sony Ericsson is to release a ‘Quicksilver Black’ colour variant K850 camera phone. Nothing else than the colouring should be changed. So far, I haven’t been able to fetch any pictures of this variant, but it could be the one, we’ve seen earlier on. I haven’t got any word on availability yet.

Furthermore, I can tell you, that Sony Ericsson’s upcoming firmware for the K850, will not be the R1DA038 revision, but instead a completely new and better one :-) Let’s hope I have fixed my K850 by then, as it should not take more than a week’s time!

Update! The first press picture of this colour variant has now hit the forums – count on more live pictures coming from us tomorrow ;-)

Looking Back At Year 2007

Life’s colourful (and dark): New K770i colours

Tonight, new pics were uploaded to the Sony Ericsson Media Library. These pics (and later on, a product page) revealed to us two new variants of the up to this point uncommonly coloured K770i, namely Henna Bronze & Soft Black.

Exclusive: 4 new codenames

USEB has yet again gotten its fingers dirty with some exclusive news for you guys. This time it’s about codenames – four of them, to be exact.

Angelina, Emilie, Josephine and Tyra are new codenames for upcoming Sony Ericsson phones. The last three are set to be launched in Q3 this year.

So far no word on any specifications on any of these, but stay tuned for more updates on this!

We’ve also got another exclusive for you, and this one is regarding the K850 facelift :-) Its design will be more like the Japanese Cyber-shot phone, SO905iCS. In terms of camera design and look of course, not form factor, etc.

Customize the K850 and W910’s media player

From the second K850 and W910 were announced, I knew that there would be a way to customize the media player look of these. Even bigger did my gut feeling get when I got both phones and realized that the look changed accordingly to the themes. But even though I had found out that it had something to do with the themes, I didn’t investigate more into that. Now it seems that some people at Esato have found a way, and there is a discussion thread about it here. So if you want to change the look of the media player on your K850 or W910, take a look at the discussion going on.

By the way, I am pretty sure that this also goes for other A200 phones (K630, K660, v640, Z750, etc.)

R1DA038 firmware for K850 coming soon

A commenter here at the blog, has just posted about an upcoming firmware release for the K850. This one will be called R1DA038 and it looks like there will be some major improvements on the camera side. The current camera version is 2.9, while the new firmware’s camera version will be v. 3.4. Video call camera is the same.

K660 review by Mobile-Review

Mobile-Review.com has yet again reviewed a Sony Ericsson phone and this time it is the K660, which is being marketed as a web phone for the youth. I liked this review of K660 and I think Eldar makes some good points along the long lines of text, but I also disagree with some of his sayings – like the one, where he says no K6xx phones have been successful. In Denmark both the K600 and K610 has been very popular and helped kick-starting 3G. Anyhow, here’s the link for the review. Enjoy!

K850 is delicious!

Here’s a really cool cake shaped in the form of a Sony Ericsson K850! I’m guessing it has something to do with Carphone Warehouse has sold 1.000.000 phones as that’s what is said on the display. The cake has been created by Michelle Sugar Art and can be found at the Portfolio page.  The amount of details is amazing!
