Well guys, looks like I’ve revived my computer and I’m currently trying to install everything again and such - but I’ll be back later this evening!
Anyways, I’ve got some info for you guys.
Text deleted. Also, Sony Ericsson won’t release any devices with DVB-H this year, but next year.
Hope you’re all well!

Thoughts have been flying around about a upcoming PlayStation branded Sony Ericsson phone and it has been quite an exciting subject in the Sony Ericsson related forums all over the world.
Now Sony Computer Entertainment co-chief operating officer Jim Ryan has commented on a possible future convergence of PlayStation and Sony Ericsson handsets.
- The PlayStation is a proven success and so is Sony Ericsson. Convergence with the two arms working together is definitely plausible, Jim Ryans says to Economic Times.
It could be possible that Sony Ericsson is working on a counter back at Nokia’s recently launched Ngage series of handsets.

I’ve just created a new way of reviewing phones, so that it’ll be much nicer and better for you guys to read and understand. This new system will automatically make the reviews longer and more in-depth going so you’ll end up knowing the most interesting aspects of the phone, when you’re done reading it. I’ve looked at some big mobile phone reviewing websites and have gathered some information there about how they do it and what I like and dislike about it to finally create the ultimate way of reviewing phones (I hope)
Here’s an overview of how upcoming reviews from this site will look:
Page 1
- Intro
- Advantages and disadvantages
- Design, size and compared to other phones
Page 2
- Design in detail
- User interface
- Applications and organizer (calender, alarm, etc.)
Page 3
- Camera
- Music (and FM-radio)
- Games
- Connections & Internet
Page 4
- Phonebook
- Messaging
- Calls
- Conclusion
I hope you like it, and if you have any suggestions to the system or have spotted something that could be improved, please don’t hesitate to post a comment.
If I have the time I’ll try to ‘convert’ the K850 review into this way of reviewing and of course add more content to it. No promises, though.
Oh, I almost forgot! This new system will also bring much more (non watermarked!) pictures (with much better quality than before!) to the reviews

I just read an article about Mobile Future conference in Stockholm some days ago, where Ericsson’s Bengt Stavenow was talking about the future of Sony Ericsson and its features. I’ll just do a short round up for you guys.
- All Sony Ericsson phones have focus on cost, battery time and size. If a phone doesn’t have a certain feature, it could be because it hasn’t been “compatible” with one of these three things.
- Phones with more networks supported (all in up) will come soon
- 100 Mbps network speed within few years, whereas we’ve got up to 7.2 Mbps HSDPA today.
- More megapixels, but optical zoom will be required for good image quality in a near future.
- Mobile TV is in the works - but what’s important is not what technology that’ll be used, it’s that the consumer gets the TV (streamed) to his phone. This could be a sign of SE finally choosing DVB-H instead of MBMS, which uses 3G.
- Usability and ease of use is important - users must be able to do things with a single click - like saving your camera pictures or sending them off in a MMS.
- “Design is king” and “no technology carries its own weight”, he concluded.

Yes, that’s right - me! I am going to test out Sony Ericsson phones in a somewhat near future. But that’s not all - they won’t be 100% production models, so I’ll be able to give you an insight of some phones before they’re out, so you can more easily decide whether this is the phone for you or not, and if it is, this will give you some time to save up some money for it!
So again, watch out for this space, as I’m counting on having some more details later this month

Here’s my interview with the former President of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, Miles Flint. This is the very last interview with Miles as President of SEMC, and was one of the last things, he had to do. In the interview Miles talks about what he thinks the future will look like, what has been positive and negative in the past years, what his first Sony Ericsson phone was and he believes in a bright future ahead of UIQ.
Enjoy the interview, and thanks to Miles Flint for wanting to participate!
- First, tell me a little about yourself
54 years old, married with two children. Enjoy sailing and photography.
- When did you buy your first Sony Ericsson product and why?
First Sony Ericsson phone was the T68i which I used for several years. It was really cool at the time and I remember a senior Vodafone person showing me the add-on camera module.
- What are the most important features on a (multimedia) phone, in your opinion?
For me, music, camera and internet. May be different for others
- What do you think Sony Ericsson has to offer on the mobile scene in the future?
There’s still so much potential and so many exciting ideas in development.
- What’s your view on Sony Ericsson’s current portfolio?
It just gets better year by year, building on success and feedback from operators and consumers. Strong consumer propositions with HSDPA coming into the portfolio combined with great features and user experience.
- There have been some problems with UIQ 3 in the past, and some might say, that there still are - what do you think about this?
We took on UIQ because it was being under-invested in within Symbian. Now Motorola have decided to join. I think there is a real future for a truly Open platform.
- Where do you think Sony Ericsson will be positioned against the world’s biggest phone manufacturers in 2010?
Still bringing something different to the mobile market. That’s been our focus from day 1. Sony Ericsson wanted to create something that wasn’t there before. I don’t see that philosophy changing.
- What are the biggest challenges in the future for Sony Ericsson?
Difficult to say. There are new challenges every day but keeping focused on a longer term vision is part of the key to decide on how to prioritize and decide.
- What have been positive and negative on the mobile scene for the past five years?
Positive: An industry growing at a rate that others can only dream at. Constant innovation and better and better devices for consumers. Negative: 3G demonstrated the tendency to promise technology with too aggressive timelines.
- What are you going to do from now on?
Nothing yet fixed. Some time off in the new year and then most likely portfolio and part-time roles.
