Two new additions to Sony Ericsson’s Campaigns site

Sony Ericsson have recently added 2 new mini-sites to their ever-growing portfolio of… well, mini-sites, or campaign sites, as they like to call them.

So, the first one is about this app they developed, called ‘Find It’. As the site says, it “can help you locate a whole range of items: your tent at a festival; your car in a crowded car park; your hotel in a busy tourist area; your favourite spot on the beach .” Basically, it’s an app that allows you to tag locations, so that you can find them more easily later on (note, locations, not the TV remote). It requires the HGE-100 GPS enabler accessory in order to work and no, you can’t use your phone’s inbuilt GPS if you have one.

The second campaign site is about some new and hopefully many upcoming motion-controlled… stuff. Wallpapers, games… other things you might want to be motion-controlled, you name it. They’ve even put up a video to hype you up. You know, one of those artistic type of videos that glue your eyes to the screen, despite the fact that they tell you little or nothing about what they’re actually about. After watching the video you are presented with two links. One of them takes you to the main page of PlayNow arena – nothing special. The second brings you to SE’s Fun & Downloads site to browse the (surprisingly many) motion-controlled games. Thankfully, there are a few free wallpapers as well, which are quite nifty.

W595 – The Dark Side

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Brando is one of the many online PR companies Sony Ericsson makes use of, and has created a new viral campaign for the W595 making excellent of the Halloween period. The campaign involves both Facebook, Google Maps and YouTube APIs, and should eventually end up in a personalized prank video on YouTube that you can share with friends.

I must say this campaign is rather entertaining and incredibly far-reaching. I’m sure a lot of you will join in on it, right?? Don’t forget to post a link to your video in the comments once you have pranked your friends with a video, and we’ll make sure to include it in this post.

Check out the campaign site here and the videos at the YouTube page here.

Send us a photo or more of your collection by e-mail (blog@se-nse.net) or by posting a link in the comments section below. We’ll post the received photos right here in this post with name and any text you want posted with them.

By the way – we could be planning a competition similar to this, so you might want to dig up the old classics! :) Submitted phone collections after the jump.

You can now find a very nice thing at Music Reborn: A flight through a song.

At the flight, you can explore the single instruments of the song which is Pop Levi’s “Dita Dimone” (Pink Enemy Remix). That piece of music is downloadable for free, be aware that it is not 3.5MB as displayed but about twice the size.

You are also able to save screenshots of your flight to your computer and you can download a screen saver.

Have fun!

Have your say in creating Sony Ericsson’s social communications service

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Yesterday we were contacted by Chris Norton from Wolfstart, a company that was recently appointed by Sony Ericsson to provide social media counsel. Chris told us that they were appointed to create a proper blog outreach campaign, and as a part of that, they’re looking to set up a so-called blogger resource centre for the upcoming X1, which will give bloggers and enthusiasts a place to go and get content on their X1. We were told that they’ve already got a pretty good idea of what to do, but they’d love some feedback and useful opinions on the subject from people “in the business”. Now, this is where you get into the picture.

If you’d take two minutes to take a short survey about what you’d like to see happening, your voice is likely to be heard and taken into consideration by Chris and his team at Wolfstar.

The survey is actually rather interesting, and already reveals quite a few of the details of the service, including images, YouTube videos, unboxings, hands-on demos, SE designer interviews, news, announcements, de.li.cious feeds, twitter, qik and alike for live events, as well as opportunities for bloggers to attend launches and webcasts. But there’s more – they’re also asking what you would like to see on the website! So, take the survey and have your say now!

Sounds like a dream come true? Yep, definitely does. You can take the survey right here!

Got star potential? Sony Ericsson digs your life captured

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Sony Ericsson just recently launched an entirely new website called “Life Captured”. It’s a Cyber-shot campaign / contest that can make it possible for you to star in a movie or make a movie in a new film project, called “Life Captured”.

Sony Ericsson has hooked up with Mike Figgis, known for directing a large number of movies, and is giving you the chance to tell your life story with your camera phone, and create a film from these snapshots.

Five winners will win a C902, and will be invited on a VIP trip to the the film’s premiere at London’s Raindance Film Festival in October this year. Finally, one winner will be revealed at the premiere to win a grand prize, also to be revealed at this premiere.

You can find the website here, with lots of information on this contest. It all sounds very exciting, so do let us know if you sign up!

A look at PlayNow Arena

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Maximys over at SEMC Blog has just reported that the upcoming PlayNow Arena services will be launched in two versions; one for your computer and one for your phone. I like the look of both versions, and I sincerely hope this will be used by consumers. This should also make it easier for new musicians to make a name for themselves.

Maximys also added that the services will soon be launched in Sweden and the United Kingdom, while the rest of us will have to wait a bit longer. I’m sure I’ll get round to do a review of the service once it launches, though.

Here’s an internal test view at the PlayNow Arena service for computers, also dubbed the Web service.

And here are a few screenshots of the handheld services for mobile phones, dubbed the WAP service.

Sony Ericsson selects GlobalFun for mobile content

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

Sony Ericsson recently selected Swedish mobile games developer and publisher GlobalFun as one of its two official content acquisition partner for the upcoming PlayNow Arena and Fun & Downloads services.

As of now, there are no official statements from Sony Ericsson, but a few from GlobalFun.

- We have since the beginning of our business aimed to provide our customers, of which Sony Ericsson is a highly valued one, with high quality premium content. This appointment serves for us as a proof that our strategy on content acquisition and account management has been and still is the correct one, says Bertil Krumnack, EVP Sales & Business Development at GlobalFun.

Also commenting on the deal was GlobalFun CEO, Marcus Johansson.

The trust that Sony Ericsson is showing us by appointing us as one of two content acquisition partners is very flattering. We will do our very best to exceed the expectations in this area and to continue to grow our mutual business, says Marcus.

In my opinion, Sony Ericsson could easily have picked a better games developer than GlobalFun. Sure, their games are okay, but there are many other developers out there that publish better games. A 5-year contract has been signed to ensure close cooperations between the two companies.
