More pictures of apparent LT26 are out. This one on the right is particularly interesting, as it shows Nozomi with ICS (judging by the lockscreen), with recognizable Xperia UI colours, opposite of last information stating that ICS will come to SE devices skinless.
Other than that, cropped specs on the side suggest that it will have dual-core processor, and cropped title could as well be ” Xperia Cloud”.

Next leak is all about specs:

1.5 Ghz dual-core processor
1Gb RAM, 32Gb ROM
4.3″ Reality display with Mobile Bravia engine, but this time HD resolution of 720 by 1280 pixels.
Whopping 12 megapixel Exmor R camera, with 1080p full HD video recording
720p HD front-facing camera
1750 mAh battery

Date of official announcement? Probably between 10 and 13 January, as that’s when the 2012 CES is holding up, and we traditionally expect reveal of the next Xperia flagship phone right on those three days.

The proof came from NenaMark1 benchmark where an anonymous user posted up a score of 46.8fps and revealed the processor speed as 1.4GHz and GPU as the Adreno 205.
That means it scores 2fps more than the Xperia Arc (44.8fps) and has the same GPU as the Xperia Arc and just a more powerfull CPU. 1.4GHz on the LT18i compared to 1GHz on the LT15i (Arc).
This could even be the same single-core Snapdragon S2 chipset (MSM8655T) that is rumoured to be used in the Nozomi.

We believe that the LT18i Ayame will be quite similar to the Xperia Arc.
Question to you folks, would you upgrade from your Xperia Arc?

Sony Ericsson’s own ambassador – Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova – wore a rather striking dress at an event in London on the 17th June. What’s so unique about it is that it uses Bluetooth to connect to your phone and lights up when you’ve got an incoming call. That way you know when someone’s calling you even when you can’t hear your phone (say, in a noisy club). This “light up” effect is described to originate from “small, white translucent scale embellishments that run down one side of the dress from the shoulder to the hip”.

The concept dress was designed by George Davies, a London College of Fashion student. The prototype garment is still far from being a commercial product, so you gals should probably stop wondering how on earth you’d have to wash this thing.

Sony Ericsson has just recently filed a patent for automatic zooming on its cameraphones. The basic idea is to make zooming automatic by following the handset movement. When you move a camera away from your body, the image zooms in, as you move it back, the image zooms out. The technology involves accelerometers and proximity sensors to measure the movement of the handset, it’s distance from your body and a software to convert the movement values into a zoom parameters. So if some of you feel its too laborious to press a button to zoom in and out, Sony Ericsson might just come out with the right product for you in a few years.

A few days ago, Sony Ericsson invited selected press and bloggers to a special meeting about the company, its future and future products and plans. According to Belgique Mobile, Sony Ericsson has been working on “the green wave” and wants to make future products more friendly to the environment. The company showcased three ideas.

Product packaging
The packaging of the 100+ million products Sony Ericsson ships a year is a huge post, that could be improved to reduce the amount of CO2 released. Sony Ericsson has developed a special envelope that – in theory – could replace the original packaging.

Chargers
Another one of the large and rather obvious posts on the “green wave”-plan is the charger. Sony Ericsson has developed a charger that will stop completely when nothing is connected. By pushing the connector into the phone, it’ll start, and when it’s removed, it’ll stop again. It’s an ingenious solution and according to Sony Ericsson, the charger will be generalized soon.

Say goodbye to paper manuals
Sony Ericsson’s last idea is about going away from paper manuals, and instead integrate the manuals into the phone software. The huge advantage here, other than the large amount of trees that can be left standing, is that the manuals can be updated and even integrated into various functions, so you’ve got help available for every single feature on the phone.

You might also want to check out MobileCowboys’ story about Sony Ericsson’s CO2-neutral concepts right here with a full view at the Green Heart Phone (to the right).

Sony Ericsson has just recently filed a patent on a haptic touch screen gaming device. The patent goes by the name “Orientation based multiple mode mechanically vibrated touchscreen display”, and among a set of nice designs, it shows a very PSP-like concept. But, not only does it look like a PSP device, the patent also states that the PSP mode is “set out to mimic the look and feel of the popular Sony.TM. Playstation Portable (PSP.TM.) gaming device”, as well as about 5 other mentionings of the PSP brand. Interesting!!

Furthermore, with an accelerometer built-in, the phone concept will automatically adapt the content on the full touch screen to whatever way you’re holding the phone and to what application / feature you’re using. When pressing any buttons on the screen, the phone will vibrate to give a feel of touch. A feature like this was added in the new K850 firmware and it did wonders for me.

A Sony Ericsson patent reveals how the company intends to use projectors inside cellphones. According to the patent, when the projector beams the desired image on to a surface, the on-board camera will take an image of the projected image to analyse if any adjustments are to be made. If required, the projector application will change the intensity of the projector to project the ideal image. Now, if the patent could have revealed when we’ll see a phone with an inbuilt projector…

Sony Ericsson has just recently filed a patent for a new phone design. This employs a clamshell phone and a detachable display on it. Yep, you read correct – detachable!

The idea is to have a phone, where you can have the display whichever way you’d like it – that way you can actually have the large (internal) display on the outside of the phone. This could make it a lot easier to watch videos on your phone – especially if dedicated multimedia keys were employed on the sides.

The other concept to be found in the patent is a lot more innovative. This one makes you capable of actually removing the display from the rest of the phone, and thereby only carry around a display. However, this would not just be any display to carry around, because then there wouldn’t be any fun in doing so (if it didn’t work, that is). I’m thinking that the display could also double as a music player or alike. To be honest, I believe I have seen what could be one of these (upcoming) phones – very much like W350 with round music keys on the front, but also a nice colour display on the front. Looked exactly like a music player, and was also a clamshell phone.

It seems this concept could be used in lots of different ways – all we have to do is wait.
