In an attempt to “freshen up” their advertising, Sony Ericsson are said to be adopting more colours for their familiar logo that has remained unchanged since the joint venture’s establishment back in 2001. In other words, the spherical silvery casing shall no longer contain only green goo.
This is of course only part of the company’s forthcoming campaign, which is supposed to be bigger than even their 2006 “I *love* Sony Ericsson” one. You know, the one that replaced the heart symbol with the Sony Ericsson logo. So, the main aim of the said campaign will be to promote the Entertainment Unlimited brand (and hence, Satio, Aino and Yari) and their PlayNow services.
On top of that, a few lucky bastards customers, who buy certain handsets after the campaign’s launch next month will be given tickets to next year’s football World Cup in South Africa. Nice!
Quite frankly, I’ve never expected to see such a funny video about a commercial product on YouTube. Much less from Sony Ericsson (and even less from the other phone manufacturers, actually).
One of the few YouTube videos that have made me chuckle, really.
Sony Ericsson has a trend of creating these small, cool mini-sites that either feature a product (range) or a specific new feature or application. Therefore, it’s not surprising to see that they’ve published a mini-site for the newly announced C510, mainly focusing on its Smile Shutter technology, while throwing in a handful of nice photography tips and tricks - most of them are definitely worth checking out. You can check out the mini-site for yourself on the link below.
Sony Ericsson have recently added 2 new mini-sites to their ever-growing portfolio of… well, mini-sites, or campaign sites, as they like to call them.
So, the first one is about this app they developed, called ‘Find It’. As the site says, it “can help you locate a whole range of items: your tent at a festival; your car in a crowded car park; your hotel in a busy tourist area; your favourite spot on the beach .” Basically, it’s an app that allows you to tag locations, so that you can find them more easily later on (note, locations, not the TV remote). It requires the HGE-100 GPS enabler accessory in order to work and no, you can’t use your phone’s inbuilt GPS if you have one. Sony Ericsson - Find it
The second campaign site is about some new and hopefully many upcoming motion-controlled… stuff. Wallpapers, games… other things you might want to be motion-controlled, you name it. They’ve even put up a video to hype you up. You know, one of those artistic type of videos that glue your eyes to the screen, despite the fact that they tell you little or nothing about what they’re actually about. After watching the video you are presented with two links. One of them takes you to the main page of PlayNow arena - nothing special. The second brings you to SE’s Fun & Downloads site to browse the (surprisingly many) motion-controlled games. Thankfully, there are a few free wallpapers as well, which are quite nifty.
