LiveView Update released

Friday, January 28th, 2011
You might remember the SE LiveView which was released back in December. Unfortunately we have been keeping ourselves busy with the likes of the Xperia Arc and the Xperia Play that we havent really had the time to keep up with this device. So, whats the latest?

A fair amount of people brought it, but most people seemed to have difficulty between the Liveview and their non SE Android phone. SE said that they are looking into it, and see if they can find out the reasons why so many people have had problems, and would release an update for the LiveView in January.

Today, SE have released that update. Unfortunately I havent had the time (and nor will I have the time until much later) to update mine yet, but I have had a peek into the SEUS program and theres a picture of the LiveView which tells me that there is an update released, as when I checked a couple of days ago, there wasnt.

Sony Ericssons Announces LiveView™ Bluetooth Accessory

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

If you’ve been seriously disappointed in Sony Ericsson due to the delay in the Eclair Update for its Android range, then Sony Ericsson has just announced an accessory that might just cheer you up.

First things first, it is NOT an Ipod Nano; infact it seems quite similar (once attached to the watch kit) to the OLED bluetooth watchs which Sony Ericsson still produce.

Posted Image

As far as hardware goes, there are two buttons on the top of the screen and 4 soft keys at each end of its 128×128 1.3″ screen. Software wise, the phone only supports Android phones with Sony Ericsson LiveWare™ Manager App installed. No, not your old K850 or your cute pink Vivaz ….

There is one other catch – Android phone compatible (Android OS 2.0 and above) . So it appears we aren’t going to see this in retail shops until the Eclair update rolls out for most of the Android range, which should be around Q4. However, the accessory doesn’t seem to be limited to Sony Ericsson phones only. Oh and by the way, the X10 in the video seems to be running Eclair … :p

AB-900 is a new Bluetooth car speaker phone

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

ab900_piu

Now, before you read on, you should know that I’m not normally a fan of these car speaker phones, but I quite like this one. I’m of course talking about the new AB-900 which was announced just minutes ago. The AB-900 is a Bluetooth car speaker phone, and does more than I first thought it would.

You can use the AB-900 and your Bluetooth-enabled phone to stream music from your phone to the AB-900, and it will broadcast it over the car audio system. It even has RDS built-in, so you won’t have to bother searching for the right frequency all the time.

The AB-900 features a pretty large display that enables you to handle your calls whilst driving. It provides you easy access to five selected favourite contacts, and you have voicemail at the touch of a button.

Your music and audio will automatically pause when you get an incoming call, and resume once again when the call ends.

ab900

And now to the best part about the AB-900 – its battery life. It’s capable of pulling a staggering 1000 hours of standby life or 26 hours of talk! That’s about forty days of standby time or more than a day of constant gossipping. Quite amazing what a standard BST-38 can do in a product like this.

The AB-900 measures 120 x 69 x 16 millimetres and weighs 117 grams, making it a fairly lightweight car speaker phone solution.

It’ll be available in one kit with two different panel colours – black and silver. No word on availability or pricing yet.

Sony Ericsson’s Last Announcement For The Year

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

You heard me right. Sony Ericsson are going to make their last announcement for the year 2008 on 6th November. Sad, I know.
What’s going to be announced then, you say? Well, nothing much, actually. Many of you have probably heard of Rika (aka. W705), pictured above.  It’s going to feature the same Clear Audio Experience found on the W902 and W980 models. It’s got WiFi and YouTube support, much like the G705, a 3.2MP non-AF camera with a LED flash and will ship with a 4GB M2 card. Pretty much everything else is just like on your average A2 Walkman phone. Gotta admit, though – that aluminum casing looks very stylish. The phone will ship in 2 colours – Passionate Red and Luxury Silver.
An Orange-branded version will be announced as well.
Be sure to check out more of the official pics over at Cell Phone Sail!

Thursday will also herald the announcemet of the MBS-900 Bluetooth-equipped 2.1 Home Audio System. It’s got fancy touch controls and an OLED display. Design’s not bad, either. Did I mention the built-in FM radio receiver?

More details to come…

2.1 Bluetooth speaker in works

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

Sony Ericsson also showcased a Bluetooth speaker at the special meeting, we talked about earlier today. While the attendants were not allowed to take pictures of it, they were allowed to tell the world about it – and they sure have! MobileCowboys posted a drawing of how it looks, and also posted some info on it. Shiny Shiny also posted a rather nice post about it, which was spotted by GoldenFace at Esato. Here’s his sum-up of the post:

  • Wireless Audio
  • 2.1 audio system
  • Sub-Woofer
  • OLED Display
  • Can pair up to 5 devices
  • FM Radio
  • Bass & Treble controls
  • Touch controls

The name is confidential and the attendants were not told what it is.

HBH-PV-715 / 720 / 740 Bluetooth headsets

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Sony Ericsson – the brains behind Bluetooth, however self-centered that may sound – is planning to announce three awesome-looking Bluetooth headsets on the 17th this month. These three all offer superior battery life and – in my opinion – look very slick.

They’ve all got some features in common. These are up to 800 hours of battery life in standby mode (that’s over a month of battery life!) or up to 11 hours of talk, auto-pairing, digital noise reduction (DSP), auto volume-leveling, removable ear-hooks, as well as Bluetooth 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rates (EDR) for a faster and more stable connection.

HBH-PV-715 seems to be the cheapest of the three, and is – once again, in my opinion – the better looking of the bunch as well. It’ll come in either the pictured white trimming or a black one.

HBH-PV-720 is the headset for the more sophisicated and fashionable of us. You can personalize its look with StyleUp covers, and it comes with a pouch and a silver necklace.

HBH-PV-740 is the professional headset for the business man or woman. It’s the only one of the headsets to feature a status display, and it’s the only one to come with a headset desk stand and USB charger. Apart from that, you also get the silver necklace with the HBH-PV-740.

No word on availablity or price on these ones, although the price will probably be in the range of £60 – £100.

“Drag & Drop” Bluetooth invented by Sony Ericsson

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

new_bluetooh.jpg

Sony Ericsson has invented a very innovative and simple way of sending files via Bluetooth shows a patent application published last week.

When sending files from a Sony Ericsson phone you have to (mark the files you want to send), press Options, next Send, Via Bluetooth then search for the device and finally choose what device to send to.

The new “drag and drop” Bluetooth simplifies this a lot! I believe that it is developed for touch screen phones (and could be part of the new UIQ), because all you have to do is to use your finger to drag the object towards the edge of the phone, where a pop up window will ask if “Send to yyy phone?”. Very clever, I must say – that’s innovation, Sony Ericsson, well done!

Sony Ericsson’s wireless “snowball”

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

With the announcement on the 11th Sony Ericsson announced two new accessories. The MDS-100, which has been mentioned quite a few times, and the HCB-105 handsfree car accessory. HCB-105 isn’t that exciting and is just another Bluetooth car handsfree speaker solution. What is exciting is the new speaker-system.

The sound quality is apparently very high, as Sony Ericsson states, it’s a “speaker that looks as good as it sounds”, and personally I think it looks great!

It’s using Bluetooth A2DP, which is supported by almost all new Sony Ericsson phones, and all you have to do is to connect it via the Bluetooth menu and after a few seconds, the music played on your phone will be coming out through the “ball”.

The battery should be capable of 50 hours of standby or 5 hours of listening on a single charge. Nice!

A small bag comes along with the speakers, so it’s protected when carrying it around. It weighs 225 grams, and really isn’t that big. It will end up costing around 80 – 100 USD (£40 – 50), and should be in shops in time for the Christmas sales.
