It seems like it’s taken Sony Ericsson forever to get the X1 ready. But finally, we’ve got some news - a closed X1 launch webcast is due in roughly two weeks, and a few days ago the XPERIA SDK was published at Sony Ericsson’s developer site, with the press release being published yesterday.
The SDK (software development kit) will allow developers to create their very own XPERIA panels, and test them out in an emulator on the computer. You can check out all the documentation and features of the XPERIA SDK for Windows Mobile over at Sony Ericsson’s developer website. The download is 9.1 megabytes, and can be downloaded directly here.
Sony Ericsson released an update of their Themes Creator lately. Now at version 3.29 you get support for previews of FlashLite standby images.
Furthermore - and more important to most themers - there is now an XML editor included for direct editing of the theme.xml. Continue reading “Themes Creator 3.29 - now with Flash & XML flavour”
If you’re a UIQ 3 user, and you’ve got an older smart phone (before G700 & G900), you can actually add some functionality to it by installing some applications from the G700/G900 firmwares. After only having been released, the G700 & G900’s firmwares have been somewhat hacked, and a group of people have extracted some of the applications, making them available for all current UIQ 3 users. Currently, the torch application as well as the highly anticipated notes application have been extracted, and are available at UIQBlog.com with an install guide
I must remind you that this is probably not supposed to happen, and I’m quite sure Sony Ericsson won’t be too thrilled about it, so you might want to do some thinking before installing these.
Japanese Acrodea are known for having developing very cool 3D user interfaces, that’s capable of integrating all sorts of multimedia content. It was today announced that Sony Ericsson and Acrodea has signed a master license agreement, meaning Sony Ericsson can globally release products with both the Acrodea VIVID UI and VIVID Panorama applications pre-loaded.
You can read more about the amazing VIVID UI here, where you can also find a few demos. Information about the VIVID Panorama application can be found here. Now all we can do is await the phones with these applications pre-loaded, and expect to see more of this.
I just saw that Johan from Sony Ericsson’s Developer World has posted a post including this very video of Sony Ericsson at the JavaOne conference a few days ago. The video is basically an interview of Christopher David, who’s responsible for the long-term platform planning Java. Check out the video, where Christopher talks about the new Mobile Services Architecture (MSA), as well as the new Project Capuchin. If you’re not in it for the developer talk, then have a look anyway - most of Sony Ericsson’s upcoming phones, such as C702, C902, G700, G900 and W980, are also featured in this video. If you’re a bit sentimental, you might also want to check out the K850 controlling the classic Sony Ericsson Bluetooth car, CAR-100.
A new version of the Emma flashing tool for Sony Ericsson workers, application developers, repair and service teams and alike is out. This one includes lots of new features and a complete make-over in terms of the graphical user interface.
So, if this is only for special people, why am I telling you about it? Because, it is likely that SEUS will also soon come with a new GUI and the same new features (performance and usability improvements). Emma can be found here and must be downloaded (not just updated with the old client).
