As some of you might have noticed, we had some rather annoying server / database problems yesterday on both the blog and forum, which resulted in some missing posts. Sony Ericsson did not only announce phones yesterday, they also announced no less than seven music accessories - three speakers, three headsets, and one music case. Let’s start with the speakers.
MBS-200 is a rather stylish metal Bluetooth (A2DP standard) speaker set to replace Sony Ericsson’s current snowball-like speaker, the MBS-100. As something new, the MBS-200 features an OLED display for displaying the song information. It also comes with a 3.5 mm jack input so it can be used for your computer or alike. The world-known tennis player Maria Sharapova signed a 4-year contract with Sony Ericsson back in January about working with Sony Ericsson and being Sony Ericsson’s first global brand ambassador.
Today we’re seeing some of the first results by this partnership, as Sony Ericsson today announced the Maria Sharapova Design Collection, which basically consists of four accessories for your mobile phone. The accessories are called IDC-31, IDC-32, IDC-33 and surprisingly IDC-34. You can check out the photos of the accessories below in the same order.
They’ll hit the market in Q3. Oh yes! The press release also reveals that Maria Sharapova’s handset is a Sony Ericsson T303 - how exciting and very unexpected!
Sony Ericsson - the brains behind Bluetooth, however self-centered that may sound - is planning to announce three awesome-looking Bluetooth headsets on the 17th this month. These three all offer superior battery life and - in my opinion - look very slick.
They’ve all got some features in common. These are up to 800 hours of battery life in standby mode (that’s over a month of battery life!) or up to 11 hours of talk, auto-pairing, digital noise reduction (DSP), auto volume-leveling, removable ear-hooks, as well as Bluetooth 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rates (EDR) for a faster and more stable connection.
HBH-PV-715 seems to be the cheapest of the three, and is - once again, in my opinion - the better looking of the bunch as well. It’ll come in either the pictured white trimming or a black one.
HBH-PV-720 is the headset for the more sophisicated and fashionable of us. You can personalize its look with StyleUp covers, and it comes with a pouch and a silver necklace.
HBH-PV-740 is the professional headset for the business man or woman. It’s the only one of the headsets to feature a status display, and it’s the only one to come with a headset desk stand and USB charger. Apart from that, you also get the silver necklace with the HBH-PV-740.
No word on availablity or price on these ones, although the price will probably be in the range of £60 - £100.
Lots of photos of some new unannounced Sony Ericsson accessories appeared at SE4M.com today. These are clearly going to be marketed for females, but I must say that they do look good! It looks like these photos were shot at CeBIT, but obviously the products haven’t been announced.
You can check out the tons of photos of Sony Ericsson’s new additions to its Design Collection over at SE4M.com.
[Thanks, Xajel!]
Update! Silly, silly me. I thought these looked somewhat familiar to the already announced design collection products, but I didn’t have the time to check it out. However, it appears that they are indeed the already announced accessories. My apologies
The A200 platform supports WLAN connection, however there are no devices with built-in WLAN. Sony Ericsson is now trying to make up for this by soon announcing a WiFi Enabler accessory, that is most likely to look at work like the FM transmitters, MMR-60 and MMR-70, and make use of the Fast Port connector.
Furthermore, Sony Ericsson is working on a follow-up GPS Enabler, called GPS Enabler 2 (Helmer Fingal II) and also a sport GPS accessory. G900 is reportedly going to come with the GPS Enabler as a part of the consumer package.
How can we be sure of it all? Well, it was leaked in the G700/G900 white papers, which you can at Sony Ericsson’s Developer World.
PS. The WiFi accessory image is of course just a mock-up - the K850 screenshot isn’t, though!
Here’s a cool video of the upcoming MAS-100 portable speaker set. I think this will be released around the same time as the W760, which is also featured in this video. Enjoy
Since Sony Ericsson focused last year on low/mid-range phones the emphasis this year will be placed on high-end walkman and cybershot models. Among a flood of really nice fashion phones powered by UIQ there’ll be of course some nice feature phones running the A200 platform.
Here are some release dates of yet unannounced phones:
• Angelina Q2
• Tyra Q3 (UIQ-Low-end)
• Emilie Q3
• Josephine Q3 (UIQ-Mid-range)
Besides this Sony Ericsson plans to expand their accessories as well. A walkman phone called Madonna in one package with a hifi-system (of course also from SE) will be out during this year. This will be also a fashion phone (maybe P5i sister) stated to be very expensive but nice to look at. You probably all know ‘pebble’ (MBS-100) - as it seems to come out in a bigger and more powerful version with incredible sound.
Apart from that some more codenames of yet unannounced phones:
