Sony Ericsson announced a new accessory for music lovers called Music Lover’s Kit MK200. The company claims that its Sony Monitor Headphones MH830 deliver powerful, high quality sound and are now enhanced with a handy call-handling remote. It’s also possible to share the music with friends by simply connecting the Sony Ericsson Music Cable MC100 to the stereo. The headphone is Closed-type supra-aural and have a 30mm driver. After the exclusive release of Minecraft pocket for XPERIA PLAY the Minecraft and Sony Ericsson fans can be happy again: Sony-Ericsson-Shop.de sells special designed XPERIA PLAY’s with Minecraft covers. Furthermore it includes another fan-toy: Steve’s Minecraft head – popular from gamescom 2011. But there is something that is special, too: Its price. While the cheapest price for a SIM- and branding-free PLAY is around 277€ (in Germany) the Minecraft version costs 299€.
It’s pretty amazing what this LiveDock thing can do. Besides charging and doing various things with LiveWare Manager, you can connect wireless keyboard and mouse and use it like you would do on a PC! This brings whole new range of use to your Sony Ericsson smartphone.Let me not bother you more, just watch the video:
Last month Sony Ericsson announced a new range of accessories called Smart Extras. The first of these are the LiveDock and LiveSound. Today we have managed to find these on Play, and are at very reasonable prices.
The LiveDock is basically a docking stations for, well, resting your phone for when you aren’t using it, though you can set it to do different things when you have the LiveWare manager app installed. This is currently on pre-order from Play.com for £29.99, though RRP is at £39.99.
The LiveSound is a headset with a cable that doesn’t tangle. It also features a key that you can program yourself to do what you want it to, depending on how many times you press that button. LiveSound is on pre-order from Play.com for the price of £39.99, instead of the RRP of £49.99.
Both accessories have a release date of 15 August 2011. and will be mostly compatible with all new Xperia handsets.
Here we have three promotional Youtube videos, courtesy of Sony Ericsson, about Xperia Ray, Xperia Active and LiveDock. All three devices are coming soon, and we will try to do our best to keep you updated. See the blog for the videos!
As well as the phones announced yesterday, Sony Ericsson also announced a new series of accessories called Smart Extras, which will be used for the Xperia smartphones that will create “new functionality”.The first device was a LiveDock multimedia station:
As you can see, it appears to be somewhere for your Xperia phone to lay on, and when connected, will launch the application of your choice. Also, Sony Ericsson add that if you have more than one LiveDock, then you can set each LiveDock to launch a different application depending on your situation.
However, a couple of flaws: this appears to be available in white only, and looking at the official accessory page for the LiveDock, it appears it is only compatible with the new range of Xperia devices (apologies X10, X10 Mini, X10 Mini Pro and X8 owners) The second smart accessory to get announced was a headset called LiveSound:
The headset gives out excellent sound for a more enjoyable experience, along with a cable that doesnt tangle. It features a LiveKey button that is programmable to do what you want. Example you can set it up to launch a sports app by pressing the button, press it again and it could also show you information that is being used by ANT+ accessories, for example your heart rate etc . As for compatibility, thankfully it appears to be compatible with Vivaz, Vivaz Pro, Xperia X10, Aspen, Cedar, Spiro and of course the 2011 announced phones so far, and is available in a variety of colours. Again, no mention of the X10 Mini’s or the X8.
I have also found a YouTube video featuring both accessories:
My personal thoughts:
Being a current X10 Mini Pro owner, I cannot say that I am rather excited about the new accessories. As you (probably) saw in the video, they use an app called LiveWare manager, which is coincidently used by the LiveView, so I cant really see why they are advertising the LiveDock for the new Xperia devices and leaving the poor Xperia X10 family owners out in the cold. Perhaps then they are now recoding the LiveWare manager to Android 2.3.3 (aka GingerBread)? Anyway, as I have the LiveWare Manager app installed on my X10 Mini Pro, there are options to launch apps depending on what accessory is connected (including a charger). Having said that though, on the LiveDock the X10 Mini Pro’s USB slot is where the phone would be laying.
At thanko.jp appeared a new accessory for Arc. A 10x zoom lens for Arc. That you can attach it to your XPERIA phone, you need a special shell which is shipped with it. So maybe there will be soon more lenses for the Arc which fit the shell. By the way: It’s focal length is three metres. If you are interested then you can buy it for ¥ 1980 which are around € 17. Here are some pictures of it:
It appears that Sony Ericsson are very excited by the Xperia Play, so much so that they have created a new accessory for it; the Sony Ericsson Multimedia Dock DK300.
Looking at the photos and video, it simply charges the phone and allows you to connect a 3.5mm jack into the back of it, so that you can listen to music via your stereo etc.
There has been no official announcement about the accessory as far as I’m aware by Sony Ericsson, but judging by Scotboyuk’s news post about O2 getting the white Xperia Play, I guess the colours available will be black and white.
