Mobiwoo posts impressions from the London event

Friday, May 29th, 2009

One of the lads from our affiliate site, mobiwoo, that attended the London even on the 28th has posted a rather lenghty article, describing his experience at the press conference and saying what he thinks about the newly-announced phones, namely Satio, Aino and Yari. It makes for quite an interesting read, if you’re into these three phones. Hit the source link for the article.

GSMArena previews the Aino

gsmarena-aino

And here we have yet another preview from the GSMArena labs. This time it’s about Sony Ericsson’s semi-touchscreen Aino. Yep, the one with the new Media center, PS3 Remote Play, Wi-Fi and teh 8 megapixel camera. Generally, they seem to be quite happy with the handset, although at numerous points they reserved their judgement, due to the unoptimized condition of the pre-release software. Here’s the conclusion:

Well, the Sony Ericsson Aino surely did surprise it. The very concept of it is so un-Sony-Ericsson-like. You’ve got a huge touchscreen, 8 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, plus all of the other the well-known goodies. We’ve gotta say that the microSD card support is more than welcome as well.

No longer do you have to choose between a Cyber-shot and a Walkman, and no longer should you go for other mobile phones when decent video recording is a must. It seems that Sony Ericsson are changing their game plan and thus they may be even changing the game itself.

gsmarena-preview-yari

The lads at GSMArena have done a pretty positive preview of Sony Ericsson’s recently announced gaming phone. Here’s the conclusion:

So there you have it – while the Sony Ericsson Yari isn’t a revolutionary device, Sony Ericsson have just successfully revolutionized their portfolio. You’ve got a top-notch music player, high-res camera with Face and Smile detection, GPS receiver, a praise-worthy web browser and the latest in Sony Ericsson UI development all in one device. Not to mention the extraordinary gesture-based gaming.

Satio, Aino and Yari promo videos appear on the Internets

Friday, May 29th, 2009

How many times should Sony Ericsson be told that users love CGI? At least there’s some at the end of each video. Oh, and the Satio one has a catchy tune.

Three new W995 reviews straight from Sony Ericsson World YouTube channel

Sunday, May 24th, 2009

Sony Ericsson has managed to get Tom Dunmore, editor in chief of Stuff magazine; UK-based producer, Rob Lewis and film critic, Jaspreet Pandahar, each to do a short advertisement video review of Sony Ericsson’s upcoming Walkman king – the W995. Honestly, they sound more like representatives reciting the phone’s features rather than unbiased reviewers, so the whole thing looks kind of dubious. I can’t say I expected anything else, though. Here are the videos themselves:

Android 2.0 to grace a future Sony Ericsson smartphone?

android-2

In an interview with ePrice Sony Ericsson vice president, Peter Ang, said that for SE’s upcoming Android smartphone, they’ll incrorporate the second version of the OS. That’s supposed to happen before 2009. Furthermore, SE is known to be fond of customizing the UI’s of their phones, so a modified version of the Android interface is expected to run on top of the OS in the said smartphone. But does all this mean that Android 2.0 is coming soon?

Mystery site’s true identity revealed

something-good

Remember that mysterious under-construction site that went online a few days ago? Well, now we know what it’s for. But first, a link to the actual site:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/mine/

w508-style-up-site

Apparenly, using the site, you can create style-up covers for your W508 and naturally buy the finished product afterwards. Pretty neat, huh? But there’s more! There’s a competition that awards the best designs with some pretty neat prizes (i.e. a PS3, a pair of wireless speakers, a W508), the winners of which are determined by popular vote. So even if you don’t own a W508, it’s worth it to take part. Hit the source link for pictures.
