Sony Ericsson X10 Update

Friday, March 25th, 2011

Rikard Skogberg at the Sony Ericsson Product Blog today confirmed  that the Sony Ericsson X10 will receive a Gingerbread update . The update will be available in the end of Q2 / early Q3 this year. Only X10 will receive the 2.3 update, not minis or X8.

However the X10 will loose some features like the following:

  • The current plan is that the XperiaTM X10 will get the Android standard Camera user interface and therefore features like e.g. face recognition, smile shutter etc will be lost.
  • Moxier is replaced by the gingerbread native EAS functionality.
  • Mediascape is being replaced by the media experience widgets and music player included in our new 2011 products.
  • DRM keys for protected content on your phone will be lost in the upgrade process.
  • The Sony Ericsson Backup and Restore client is not supported in the Gingerbread version and will therefore be lost.
  • Support for bi-directional languages will be reduced compared to the latest version of the 2.1 version of the XperiaTM X10.

Seems as X10 will get most of the new Xperia Arc stuff to.

Sony Ericsson Susan running Android?

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

A new picture of earlier shown Susan appeared on the net, if you look on the statusbar it looks alot like the Android statusbar. If Susan runs Android or not isn’t known, it could be a new Sony Ericsson platform or a new Symbian phone perhaps?
