You remember that video of Rachael’s UI that we posted a few months ago? Well today another video showing off more of Rachael’s UI has popped up on YouTube. It’s a pretty sweet look and what looks to be a pretty sweet UI, and with the official announcement mere days away the whole Rachael/X10 circus is now firmly in town and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves!

The chaps over at Mobile-Burn have posted up a video of Pureness being unboxed. Not everyone’s cup of tea and the artsy hoo-ha Sony Ericsson have tried to create around it is a bit cheesy, but the video is well worth a look.

It’s been a long time coming but TomTom’s and Garmin’s worst nightmare is officially here in the shape of Google Maps Navigation, a turn-by-turn navigation app from Google (obviously).
Here are some of the key features of this software:
- Turn-by-turn voice guidance
- Automatic rerouting
- 3D view
- Traffic view
- Satellite view
- Street view
- Voice search
- Automatic map updates
Google Maps Navigation will ship with Android 2.0 devices, the first of which being the Motorola Droid but unfortunately for us in Europe it will be US only to begin with. Check out the presentation video below and see what you think, personally I’d suggest selling your TomTom shares pretty sharpish.

ok, ok so this is old news a little but it’s always fun to keep a track of the Giant deserts at the Googleplex. Each one appears there not long before the so named Android version is released so Android 2.0 (Eclair) is clearly not far away….like anyone needed telling that!

The chaps over at Pocket-lint have posted up a very nice gallery of hands-on shots of the X2. The X2 has been somewhat overlooked given the growing excitement that’s building up around Rachael so it’s nice to see it getting some attention. Head on over to Pocket-lint to see the rest of the gallery and check out what they thought of it.

Just a reminder for you all to check out the Yahoo! portal tomorrow afternoon at 3 pm (UK time). Yahoo! and Sony Ericsson have teamed up for what is being billed as the first ‘online flash mob’, which will see around 27,000 space hoppers bursting across the Yahoo! portal. The event is being hosted as part of the PR campaign to promote Aino and Satio and has seen around 200,000 people visit the Hopperinvasion.com website where you can design your very own space hopper. According to Sony Ericsson’s UK MD the UK alone accounted for some 60% of the site’s visitors.
So remember to go take a look tomorrow!

Rumours are appearing online that Sony Ericsson are working on a scaled down version of Satio to be presented at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next year. The current chatter on the tubes is that it will also be S60 and feature a full touchscreen like Satio, but instead of a 12 MP camera it will sport an 8 MP camera. Apparently named Kurara (at least for the moment), the device is said to be part of the Entertainment Unlimited series.

Support for Android 2.0 has officially been added to the SDK, which means that developers can now go ahead and start using the new functionality of 2.0. For the rest of us here are the major changes:
- Support for multiple Google and Exchange accounts
- Third-party “sync adapters” allow apps to tie in to the phone’s sync services
- Quick contact menus for fast access to specific key pieces of contact information
- Unified email inbox
- SMS and MMS search
- Text message auto-delete after a user-defined thread size is reached
- Significantly improved camera controls with white balance, macro, effects, and more
- Improved keyboard layout, dictionary, and algorithm based on multi-touch support
- Double-tap zoom in browser, support for HTML5
- Bluetooth 2.1 support with addition of OPP and PBAP profiles
- “Better” graphics hardware acceleration

With Sony Ericsson’s first Android handset just round the corner many will be wondering whether or not it is going to feature Android 2.0 from the outset. There’s still no word on that, but given the enhancements 2.o will bring we can only hope. The first device to use 2.0 will be Motorola’s Droid, which is scheduled to be unveiled by American network Verizon tomorrow. Check out the video below to see 2.o in action:
