Sundays Themes, Pick of the Week

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

The weekend is already over and it’s time for Sundays themes. Back to work tomorrow, not that I’ve had much of a weekend off. Unlike Michell who’s hopefully been having an awesome weekend to celebrate his 18th birthday.

I don’t have a special theme today, so I’m going to highlight a couple of the best themes created over the past week.

Facebook releases XPERIA panel for the X1!

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Sony Ericsson released a new panel for the X1 today – a Facebook panel that is simply super great!

The user interface is spectacular, easy to use and very fast, and although that’s a bit surprising to me, there’s another thing that surprised me even more; the functionality of the panel. You can pretty much do anything you can normally do on a computer with this panel! This includes viewing profiles, sending and receiving messages, reading and writing on walls, checking out photo galleries, and even uploading your own photos. You can change your status text and view other people’s status updates, as well as check your notifications. Lots of pictures after the break. (more…)

C902, C905 & Nikon D80 night shoot-out

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

I promised that we’d post a duel between Sony Ericsson’s C902 and C905 as well as a Nikon digital SLR camera, which ended up being the ageing 10-megapixel Nikon D80. In the photos there is a significant difference in terms of the size of the elements from the C905 and D80’s photos and the photos produced by the C902. This is caused due to the lower camera resolution on the C902. There’s hardly any visible difference between the C905 and D80 as the C905 shoots in 3:4 format and the D80 shoots in 2:3 format.

The following pictures are 100 percent crops that are straight out of the cameras. All cameras were set to auto, and left to decide everything themselves. We’ll provide full size samples in the upcoming full comparison, but the crops should do for now.

We’ve tried Sony Ericsson’s sharp-shooting C905

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Today we received the new Sony Ericsson C905. It comes in a pretty standard piano black box with “8.1 megapixel” printed on it. It’s pretty obvious that Sony Ericsson wants to compete against its competitors with what is technically speaking a false statement, but let’s not go into details about that now.

When you get the C905 in your hand for the very first time, you get a feel of quality. The rubberized backside feels exquisite, and the sliding mechanism really is top notch. Fortunately, some might add, as it would have been an utter disaster had it not been. (more…)

Sony Ericsson claims UK top spot with C905

Monday, November 17th, 2008

It is now clear that the Sony Ericsson C905 is going to be a massive success. Sony Ericsson has just topped the weekly UK sales statistics with a brand share of close to 29 percent following the launch of the C905, Mobile News reports. Sony Ericsson’s UK share has grown three percent since the launch of the C905, making it the second best selling contract phone.

- “This is a really good result”, said Dave Hilton, marketing manager at Sony Ericsson UK and Ireland to Mobile News.

Also according to the week 44 statistics published by GfK, Samsung takes the second place with Nokia in third.

Sunday Themes: Feeling festive?

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

Intro by Michell:
We here at USEB aim to bring you the latest news and reviews in the industry, but we’re also constantly looking for ways to improve USEB by expanding our services and really trying to give our readers a better experience here. Today we’ll be introducing a new service at USEB, and we’ve decided to call it Sunday Themes. Every Sunday a series of free themes for Sony Ericsson’s feature phones will be posted here with a screenshot and download link. Picking out the Sunday Themes is Paul, who is one of the administrators of MMC Forums. I hope you’ll give Paul a warm welcome, and hopefully you’ll put his weekly recommendations to good use. I’m sure he won’t mind some friendly feedback either! :)

Enough said, and I shall be handing this post over to Paul:

You’re either going to love me or hate me for sharing these themes with you. Little bit like Marmite? But I’m hoping you’re all feeling as festive as I am and will appreciate the festive treat.

Personally I love the run-up to Christmas, I have my Advent calendar on standby!

Review: Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

Posting this is a huge relief for me. Many hours went into the creation of our review of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, which is probably Sony Ericsson’s most eagerly anticipated product of the year. And the work is now complete. Our final review includes over 11,500 words about the product and more than 250 pictures and screenshots to go with that. Oh yeah, we were THAT impressed by the X1.

Without further ado, here’s our review of the excellent Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1
