So, I think we promised you some photo samples from the C902. It is without doubt the best camera phone by Sony Ericsson yet, and the beta software is quite good in terms of sharpness, although we’d like a bit more saturated photos as well as less photo noise. Apart from that, these are very good photos by a pre-production unit. Press the thumbnails for full-size versions.

‘Brilliant!’ was the first thing coming to my mind, when getting the C902. The surface of my new phone is well polished and as smooth as glass. In addition to that the C902 is very thin for a Cyber-shot phone. Yet, the build quality is very good, and there’s a smooth transition between the nice materials and the weight of the phone.
The camera slider mechanism has been improved, so the lens cover feels solid and nice to use. As you all know, the C902 features a 5 mega pixel camera with auto focus and a new sort of LED-flash, called a Photoflash, which – according to Sony Ericsson – is on par with a xenon flash. It also contains a touch-sensitive surface around the 2″ display for advanced camera controls, which is very advantageous when taking photos.
I’m totally convinced by the camera quality. I’ve never seen such a good camera in such a thin phone! When you take photos, you’ll of course have to store them somewhere. For that, the C902 holds 160 megabytes of internal memory, which can be extended by a Memory Stick Micro memory card.
Let’s move on to the music department… The speaker is really awesome considering the thinness of the phone, and is comparable with K750’s speaker. The Mega Bass sounds very good on my BOSE QC2 headphones and the music player is very much comparable with the Walkman player.
Overall, the C902 is very, very neat and commendable for everyone who’s looking for a slim and well-built camera phone in the upper end of things. It’ll be priced at approximately £220 – £250, and is expected to hit the stores later this month.
Expect our full review of the C902 later this month, about the same time as it’ll start being available. Gallery of the C902 can be found here.
C902 & R300 At The FCC
Tuesday, May 13th, 2008Our e-mail inbox has been smoking with e-mails coming from all our readers about the fact that the FCC has approved the C902 and R300. So far, I had decided not to write about it, as I didn’t feel it was that big a deal, but seeing that everybody’s writing about it and that our readers have been wanting us to do the same, I might as well do it.

As said, both the C902 and R300 have been approved by the FCC, which basically means that the hardware is now pretty much ready for the market, and that only the software is yet to be completed. As always, we’ll have to do with the mediocre quality photos available at the FCC website. For those interested, you can find the C902 at the FCC here, and the R300 at the FCC here.

I personally believe that both phones will do very well – especially the R300 (and the R306) in India and other emerging countries.
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
Gallery: Sony Ericsson C902
Tuesday, May 13th, 2008We’ve been fortunate enough to get our hands on a pre-factory unit of the C902 sharp-shooter. Here’s our photo gallery of this beautiful & thin camera phone. Expect our preview of the C902 in a few days, and a review of it hopefully in a few weeks.
This Is Extremely Off-topic…
Sunday, May 11th, 2008… but nonetheless I’m going to post it.
Some of you might have heard about the 31 Days of The Dragon contest that’s been all over the Internet. It’s basically 31 web sites giving out free high-end laptops by HP, each valued at over $5,500! The laptop is called the HP Pavilion HDX Dragon (I think), and it’s got some remarkable features; 2,8 GHz Intel Core2, 4 GB RAM, Vista Ultimate 64-bit, 500 GB HDD, nVidia 8800M GTS video card, Blu-Ray drive, DVB-t, four speakers and one sub-woofer, extensive media handling possibilites, WLAN, Bluetooth, etc., etc. This baby’s got it all!
Today was the end of the competition at OSNN, and guess what – I’ve won one of these babies!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t express how happy I am, so I’ll end this post with two words: THANKS, OSNN!
(OK, I’m going to bed now…)
The Back Of BeiBei
Saturday, May 10th, 2008The last photo of the upcoming BeiBei from SEMCBlog was posted just yesterday, and it looks exactly as I had been told with beautiful markings on the backside. What do you think?

Video: Sony Ericsson At JavaOne
Saturday, May 10th, 2008I just saw that Johan from Sony Ericsson’s Developer World has posted a post including this very video of Sony Ericsson at the JavaOne conference a few days ago. The video is basically an interview of Christopher David, who’s responsible for the long-term platform planning Java. Check out the video, where Christopher talks about the new Mobile Services Architecture (MSA), as well as the new Project Capuchin. If you’re not in it for the developer talk, then have a look anyway – most of Sony Ericsson’s upcoming phones, such as C702, C902, G700, G900 and W980, are also featured in this video. If you’re a bit sentimental, you might also want to check out the K850 controlling the classic Sony Ericsson Bluetooth car, CAR-100.
Sony Ericsson’s Newest Flagship Store In Taiwan
Friday, May 9th, 2008
Sony Ericsson today launched its newest (and biggest) flagship store in Taiwan. It seems like its opening day won’t be before tomorrow, but I haven’t got too much trust in Google Translate.
ePrice has posted some really great photos of the new store that looks quite like the one in the UK, and there are lots of cool fan objects to have a look at, such as the exquiste red bike that was displayed.
Have a look at the photos right over here, and if you want to read the text, you can find the Google Translate link here. Have fun
PS. I’m still waiting for other flagship stores to open – when will they come, Sony Ericsson??

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008First Impressions Of The Z770
Tuesday, May 6th, 2008“Wow – the front of this one looks amazing” was probably my first thought when unboxing the Z770. It gets even better once you pick it up, and you feel how well it fits in your palm. It’s obvious that the designers of the Z770 have been had a look out for the small, yet important details. One is that the phone’s outside is completely flush around the flip hinge when opened. It simply feels like a piece of heaven. Another thing you’ll notice on the front is a mono-coloured outer display, which I’m quite fond of already.
The Z770 is a light-weight phone. It feels rock solid in hand, although the flip is a tiny bit loose (it can be moved about 0.1 millimetre). To my great surprise, the keypad on the Z770 is excellent! It offers great tactile feedback, and the large keys are really comfortable to use and with large spacing between them as well. While I would probably have wanted a better, marked separation of the keys, it doesn’t really matter that much.
The display is gorgeus! It’s a 2.2 inch TFT display, capable of showing upto 262.144 colours. Its colour saturation and representation is superb, and it’s got a very decent viewing angle to top it of with.
The camera, on the other hand, isn’t much to write home about. It’s a mediocre “snapper” camera, and you won’t be able to use the pictures for much other than goofing around with your friends or posting on your MySpace profile!
So, that was our short preview / first impressions of the Z770. Stay tuned for a review of it later this month.
