BeiBei Has Been Leaked At The FCC

Ah yes - the FCC has once again leaked a device before Sony Ericsson has announced it. This time it’s the Japanese-styled BeiBei. I quite like the design of BeiBei - or should I say G702? - although it seems to be marketed at women.
Along with lots of leaked external and internal photos of G702, a set of test results and the internal user manual was published as well. The user manual confirms just about every single thing we’ve told you about BeiBei earlier on, but to sum it up;
- Built-in GPS with WayFinder and Google Maps
- Opera Mobile 9.5 with web widgets
- WLAN
- UIQ 3.3
- The new user interface as in G700/G900
Oh yes - did I forget to mention that it’s got HSDPA, even though it’s running the old hardware platform? Well, that’s what the user manual says - and firmware strings for that matter!
Check out the FCC reports here and here. The most interesting reports including photos are this one and this one.

1:41 am on 5/22/08It’s enabled atlast!
this is great, i really need to ask you something though…How big is the screen? This is very important to me is it like a 2.4?
7:24 am on 5/22/08oh just a haeds up it has a 3.2mp camera
7:25 am on 5/22/08I think this is the most advanced piece of technology that comes from SE (and most powerfull UIQ phone so far). It uses Symbian OS in the right way and hopefully it’ll be the device that will be worth of selling my old (but still sexy
) P990i.
9:33 am on 5/22/08Cheers not this news!

What happened to the rumours that Beibei is for Asian markets only (eg. China)? I’m pretty sure someone respectable like Angello said that a month or two ago. So if he was correct, Europe won’t be seeing Beibei.
11:59 am on 5/22/08no it’ll come out in europe, book it
9:25 pm on 5/22/08Great article!Thank you!
8:17 am on 5/23/08Does anybody know anything about the dimensions? I have tried finding it in the fcc documentation with no luck.. Seems like 2.0″ or 2.2″ at max - otherwise the sheer size of the phone would be way to overwhelming
9:07 am on 5/23/08@Teamet: you’re wrong Beibei (G702) has a 2.4 inches screen (you can make a simple calculation)
G700 and G900 have a 2.4 screen so does the G702.
ps: Its black version is sexy
4:50 pm on 5/23/08if it’s 2.4″ then the spacing from the screen to the edge of the phone seems excessive. But I most acknowledge your analogy as good logic
7:30 pm on 5/26/08It’s the first quad-band UIQ3 phone since P910a (loved it!) to arrive on American shores. So far, I like the form factor and feature set. I will keep an eye on this one!
2:58 pm on 5/27/08it’s quadband!!! YES!!!! this is exciting this is the reason i couldn’t buy a g700/g900 great
