Further Design Updates

Posted by Michell | May 2nd, 2008

You might have noticed it already - I’ve changed the design of the blog even more today, and I’ve optimized it as much as I can for lower resolution screens as well as high resolution ones. I’ve also added a few other things - one is the author post search. In every post, you’ll notice that the post author’s name is now a link. This link will redirect you to all posts by this author. Pretty neat, isn’t it? :-) I’ve changed a few other things in the formatting as well, but the main part of the stuff I’ve changed has been in the codes, making it a lot lighter.

I’ve tested it in Firefox 3.0 beta 5, Internet Explorer 7 & 8 beta, and Safari 3.1.1 with encountering any problems.

I hope you like this one a bit better than the ‘old’ one, and please do give me some feedback on it! :-)

Maybe it’s just me but i prefer the old one. It was very neat compared to this.

The “old, old” one, or the one I just updated?

There should be some SE phone on the TOP ;)

The reason why they’re not there is because I optimized it for all resolutions. There would be no room for phones on a 800 x 600 pixels monitor.

    Edit
I guess it was possible anyway :-)

Great!!! You actually improved the top header of the site… The color is more pleasing now… Thanks… :) I do see few more changes and they are better now…

Just one more thing, it seems that you have indeed improved the quality of the ‘Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog’ a bit but it can still be better… Also, please change the color of the logo from grey to white… It would help a lot…

I know you will do this ASAP…

    ;)

If I were to make the logo any better, I’d be increasing the file size significantly. Don’t think there’s a need to be doing that just yet. However, you are all too right about the colour of the logo. It is indeed a bit too dark, so that’s changed now! :)

Hey Michell, I like everything bout the new style. I think it looks classier than the previous version, except for the phones at the top. I think the way you have put them in makes it appear cluttered and a bit too random. Maybe just one phone to the right of the title and a little bit bigger? Anyway, thats just my suggestion. Its looking great otherwise. :)

It does indeed, but there’s no room for a phone on the right, if it’s supposed to work great on 800 x 600 displays.

Yay! No more repeating header graphics behind the search box on 1920 screens! Ok, it never was a big deal, but in a world where people surfs the web on anything from cellphones to multi-megapixel computer displays, trying to support a wide range of screen sizes is very sensible. Personally I think this design is the best so far in terms of supporting, rather than competing with, the content. Great work.
