UIQ 3.3 Announced - When Will The Phones Come?

Posted by Michell | March 27th, 2008

UIQ Technology today announced its latest version of the Symbian based smart phone user interface. Latest version is called UIQ 3.3 and I am certain this will be the last in the series of UIQ 3.x platforms.

UIQ 3.3 is the first UIQ platform based on Symbian OS 9.3 and it includes major enhancements in line with market requirements and is optimized for extensive user interface customization. Other new features include;

  • Opera Mobile 9.5 web browser - fast rendering, pan & zoom features, widgets & full web experience
  • UIQ dashboard - mobile widgets and a dashboard accessible system wide by pressing the widget button (this will be great!)
  • Native HSDPA support - for fast mobile internet

I’m looking forward to seeing this version of UIQ on phones. When will they be announced?
PS. Sorry about the late post. My new PC with Vista is of course acting up, and froze multiple times while writing this earlier today.

    This is great as it means there continues to be choice in choosing a new smartphone, and not just a toss up between WinMo and S60. Whilst the new features sound good I am more interested in whether the UI is more responsive than in the W960. That’s an area that UIQ really need to address.

    does it also feature GSM 850 and HSDPA 850/1900 ? this is what is missed in ALL UIQ phones esp GSM 850 band

    you know that since UIQ 3.1 hsdpa/edge integration was already seen, surely UIQ 3.3 will feature both of them + higher capacity storage (like 16Gb) and higher mpix resolution support ;)

    and correction UIQ 3.1 phone like Z8 and the UIQ 3.2 based Z10 all features Quadband/Edge HSDPA in one

    cliosguy, you find the w960 somewhat sluggish because of the processor speed, not the OS…

    For Example: The W960´s processor is 220 MHZ and N95 8Gb 332 MHz, is true, but the W960 has 256 MB flash memory 96 MB reserved for OS + 160 MB user memory and N95 just has 128mb, Blesings
