JUSTAMP are showing some rather smashing looking SO905iCS unboxing pictures. The SO905i is the first Cybershot branded handset to be released in Japan, and true to form has some impressive features such as a 5 MP AF camera with 3x optical zoom, and a rather impressive WVGA screen (hint for SE: your European customers wouldn’t mind seeing these sort of specs in their Cybershot handsets!).
I usually don’t rant much about Nokia phones here at USEB, but for long there has been a rather interesting application for these called LightSabre, which turned phones with a built-in accelerometer into a deadly light saber with both sound and visual effects.
Now, the fantastic Steve Oldmeadow has created an application for Sony Ericsson phones with a built-in accelerometer running the A200 platform - it’s called Saber ME, and works brilliantly! Check his video demo of the application below.
The application will run on C902, K850, W760, W910 & W980 (and any future SE phone with an accelerometer and running A200 software platform). And best of all - it’s freeware! I am VERY interested in seeing what applications will come from Steve in the future
The chaps over at se4m.com have got their hands on a picture of what appears to be an as yet unknown Sony Ericsson clamshell handset. As yet specifications are unknown, but rather interestingly the picture includes a blurb about always knowing your location. That might suggest GPS …

Those are 100% sure to come
There’s a high possibilty that we’ll see an UIQ-powered Cybershot phone. It’s also likely to have some more megapixels than current devices . A lot of new innovations are waiting for us - more to come later.
P1i will stop shipping from September. You can imagine what its replacement will be
Check out these photos of the XPERIA X1. It clearly shows that it’s running Windows Mobile 6.1, which is not announced yet. This was why the Sony Ericsson representatives would not show any more of the operating system or demo anything but the XPERIA panels on the X1. Furthermore it shows that X1 is running a 528 MHz CPU with the Qualcomm 7200A chipset. Somebody is going to be fired… Read on for more photos.
The A200 platform supports WLAN connection, however there are no devices with built-in WLAN. Sony Ericsson is now trying to make up for this by soon announcing a WiFi Enabler accessory, that is most likely to look at work like the FM transmitters, MMR-60 and MMR-70, and make use of the Fast Port connector.
Furthermore, Sony Ericsson is working on a follow-up GPS Enabler, called GPS Enabler 2 (Helmer Fingal II) and also a sport GPS accessory. G900 is reportedly going to come with the GPS Enabler as a part of the consumer package.
How can we be sure of it all? Well, it was leaked in the G700/G900 white papers, which you can at Sony Ericsson’s Developer World.
PS. The WiFi accessory image is of course just a mock-up - the K850 screenshot isn’t, though!
