Here I am again :-)

Friday, December 7th, 2007

So now I’ve got some free time on my hands and would like to start off with a small announcement. I’ve told you I’d be getting P1, which I won’t. Because I changed my mind today and decided to get a W960 instead! :-) I’ll order it this Monday and hopefully I should have it Tuesday or Wednesday. Anyhow, here’s a small recap of the things that have happened while I was busy.

Sony Ericsson has expanded its Developer World site so there is now also a full Chinese site with a Chinese developer forum to it. This means there’ll be tutorials, articles, RSS feeds, discussions and such in Chinese as well from now on.

A patent has been found where Sony Ericsson has patented a technology that will enable camera based control. This means that Sony Ericsson will be one step closing to creating an interactive phone that can react to a person’s gestures – perhaps this could mean that a person could wave with his hand in front of a camera on the phone and the phone would react accordingly to the movements and commands given by the hand – all I can say is COOL!

Unknown prototype spotted(?)

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

I have just seen what appeared to be an unknown Sony Ericsson prototype. It was definitely a Sony Ericsson phone, but one I had never seen before. And trust me, I have seen all current and old Sony Ericsson phones and know all the features, measurements, weight, etc. – but I had never seen this one before!

It was a candy bar phone and size wise it appeared quite normal. It had a FastPort connector in the bottom and about two or three keys on the top of the phone – one of these being the on/off button, which was a rectangular one. There was a brown or dark stripe doing down the centre of the sides – just like on K850, but wider. The keypad was like the one on T650, but the back light seemed brighter and had a light greenish colour. Screen size looked quite big, but it was hard to tell. It had a music player since the person was listening to music on it, and the headset was Walkman branded, but I don’t know if it was a Walkman branded phone – either that or a K- or T-series phone. If you picture a mix of K530 and T650 and add in a little from the K850, I guess that would match the phone nicely.

I tried to snap a picture, but wasn’t able to do so.

A bit busy…

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

Well, guys… It seems that I’ll be pretty busy this week with school work, work and general stuff and won’t be able to be that active with the news posting till Friday evening or so. By then I should also have gotten a P1 looks like I won’t get this till next week :-)

Anyhow, don’t worry about anything. I’ll still be writing the reviews (W910 one almost finished – about 3400 words at the moment and lots of pictures!) and will be back in the weekend. Have a great day and enjoy life everybody!

Update on the questions to Mr Komiyama

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

I got a reply back from Sony Ericsson earlier today about the questions for Mr Komiyama. It appears that he is visiting all the Sony Ericsson offices and generally meeting the employees around the world. As said this is a priority for them – making sure he understands Sony Ericsson, what it stands for, operations, customers, etc.

Once he had any clarity on a time, he’d let me know. So please be patient – it might take some time, but you really can’t blame Mr Komiyama for wanting to meet the employees.

New firmware out for K850 AND W910

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

I am currently downloading the new firmware version for the K850. This has been said to be released in a couple of areas and now the Nordic version has been released as well. More updates once the update has completed. Maybe this means there’s a new one out for W910 as well – I’ll have to check!

Update! There’s a new firmware out for W910, too! Am currently downloading this now. Nothing seems to have changed in the K850 firmware, though :-( The K850 firmware version is R1CA037, and the W910 is R1CA039.

Two reviews are coming up…

Sunday, December 2nd, 2007

As you know I’ve just gotten a W910 and a T650. Therefore I am obligated to review them. I am already in the writings of the W910 review and have so far written a total of about 2.000 words covering the first two parts of the review. The new reviewing system allows me to go into details with each phone and thereby making the reviews both longer and more fulfilling for you guys to read. There are also way more photos of the phones in detail and the user interface with both videos and pictures.

I should be finishing up on the W910 review some time next week (have got so many things going on at the moment, so I can’t do it any faster) and the T650 review the week after. Thanks for your patience.

K850 is delicious!

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

Here’s a really cool cake shaped in the form of a Sony Ericsson K850! I’m guessing it has something to do with Carphone Warehouse has sold 1.000.000 phones as that’s what is said on the display. The cake has been created by Michelle Sugar Art and can be found at the Portfolio page.  The amount of details is amazing!
