First exclusive Sony Ericsson store in Bangladesh

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

‘The New Nation’ reports that Sony Ericsson has opened its very first exclusive store in Bangladesh, which will be breaking out from the traditional way of selling mobile phones.

As said, it’s a Sony Ericsson exclusive store, meaning only genuine Sony Ericsson products will be sold. But that’s not the really exciting stuff – what’s new and exciting is that the consumers in Bangladesh will now be able to fully try out the phones, have user friendly touch-screen self-help product updates and interactive phone displays. In other words this will give customers a better knowledge and support regarding Sony Ericsson products.

I wonder when we’ll be seeing these kind of stores other places in the world besides Bangladesh and London…

New products coming soon

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

I just wanted to do a post about some devices I’ll be getting soon.

First up is the Sony Ericsson T650 – a fashion phone with quite a good camera. This will be the first test device Sony Ericsson will be sending me (new yet unreleased phones will come soon!).

The second I’m going to get is the Sony Ericsson P1. This is a phone I’ll keep, and I’m counting on getting it around mid-December. This will be a nice replacement for my retiring P990.

Also, some of you might remember my post about some accessories earlier on. This was the MBS-100 & IPK-100. I’m still counting on getting these, so don’t worry – they’ll end up here on the blog some day!

“Drag & Drop” Bluetooth invented by Sony Ericsson

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

new_bluetooh.jpg

Sony Ericsson has invented a very innovative and simple way of sending files via Bluetooth shows a patent application published last week.

When sending files from a Sony Ericsson phone you have to (mark the files you want to send), press Options, next Send, Via Bluetooth then search for the device and finally choose what device to send to.

The new “drag and drop” Bluetooth simplifies this a lot! I believe that it is developed for touch screen phones (and could be part of the new UIQ), because all you have to do is to use your finger to drag the object towards the edge of the phone, where a pop up window will ask if “Send to yyy phone?”. Very clever, I must say – that’s innovation, Sony Ericsson, well done!

Here are the questions for Mr. Komiyama

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Here are the ten chosen questions for Mr. Komiyama. I’ve sent the questions to Sony Ericsson already, so the answers to the questions should come one of the upcoming days.

Read the questions after the break. (more…)

Tip of the week: Add folders to your file manager

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

The standard set of folders in the file manager on Sony Ericsson phone contains Camera Album, Music, Pictures, Videos, Themes, Web pages, Games, Applications & Other. But what if you want more folders in there – say for your documents, secret files or modifications. What can one really do?

new_folders_k850.jpg

Actually creating these folders is extremely easy! All you have to do is connect your phone to the PC or open an application on your phone with full access to the files on your memory card (i.e. MobyExplorer). Next up, simply create a new folder on the root of your memory card and there you have it! Unfortunately it’ll be a standard folder icon, and these can’t be changed (yet – I’m still trying to find a solution).

That’s it for this week, hope you found it at good use! By the way this will work on just about all current Sony Ericsson phones with a memory card!

W960 won’t come with HBH-DS220

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

It seems like Maximus from Just Another Mobile Phone Blog has very good eyes – he’s spotted something in the white paper of W960. As he writes, this was part of the press release:

Up to 700 albums – around 8000 songs* – can be stored on the 8GB memory of the W960 Walkman® phone. Managing tracks is easy and it can transfer up to 1GB of data, including music tracks, from your PC to the phone in less than three minutes. With two stylish headsets supplied in the box (one of these the new Stereo Bluetooth™ Headset HBH-DS220) and a music listening time of up to 27 hours, you’re free to dance much more than the night away.

However the latest white paper says that this headset has been removed from the sales package – probably to cut down on the price.

Any J2ME developers out there?

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

I am about to create my first ever J2ME application, and I would like to create a simple applet that will make use of the integrated motion sensor in A200 phones such as K850 and W910. My idea is to create an application with a ball that moves accordingly to the phone’s movement – just like Marble Madness, but much simpler (at least to start off with!).

If anybody who’s reading this has any sort of knowledge about J2ME developing and the JSR-256 motion sensor API, please contact me :-)

How the soft keys working on A200 phones

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

Earlier today a user at our forum asked a question about the soft keys on A200 phones such as W890 and W910 – if they were touch sensitive like on the K850.

The quick answer of course is no they are not, but for him (and now you!) to get a better a picture of this, here’s a picture that’ll show how the soft keys work on A200.

By the way, this goes for all A200 platform phones (currently these are K630, K850, V640, W890, W910 & Z750)

Mobile-Review has reviewed Z750

z750_mobile-review.jpg

Mobile-Review has posted a large review of the cool looking fashion phone Z750 with A-GPS built-in. But unfortunately it is in Russian only at the moment (however, there are lots of pictures!). Luckily for all of us, who don’t speak nor read Russian, Google Translate can help!

You can find the review right here.

Oh no! My K850’s back has cracked!

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

I’ve just noticed that my recently bought K850 has a huge crack all the way from the speaker on the back to the right side of the phone – the crack is like 2-3 centimeters long! I guess this is what happens when the phone falls out of your pocket twice in just one day – because that’s how unlucky I was yesterday! Luckily the crack isn’t visible unless you point it at direct sun light or a powerful flash (which is why I had to snap these pictures with hard flash). So for those of you with a K850 out there – be careful and try to find some proper protection case for it, as it could come in handy!

I still can’t believe how little it takes to crack the back of this phone… damn…
