W960 FCC approved

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

The W960 was FCC approved yesterday. Now there is absolutely no doubt about the codename – it is Mooi, just as stated on our codenames-page. Here’s the FCC W960 ID site, if you’d like to have a look at it.

New W890i pictures

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

These new W890i (a.k.a. T921i) pictures have been spotted at a Polish auction site. Yet again here are the specifications; 3.2 mega pixels camera (don’t know if it has auto focus), Walkman 3.0, A200 UI, Bluetooth and 3(.5?)G. And of course, it’s thin – 9.6 millimeters. This variant will be called “Pitch Black” (black front, brown back). Below are a few pictures.

Sony Ericsson event invitation

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

Found this earlier today on Esato. It’s an invitation to a Sony Ericsson event in Milan, Italy. It doesn’t seem like it’s a press conference because it’s titled “open day” – so I guess everybody can come. It’ll be held on the 6th of November, and apparently they invite you to “discover the latest news”, whatever that means. It’s from 11.00 AM to 6.00 PM at Cartiere Vannuci. Thanks to albero23 at Esato (otherwise I’d probably not know what half of it meant!). Here’s a picture of the invitation.

My humble Sony Ericsson collection of phones

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Well, I just thought I’d share a picture with you guys of my humble Sony Ericsson phone collection. So far I’ve got 10 Sony Ericsson phones (more, if you count the other brands!). These are K700, K800, P990, S500, T68i, T230, T610, W800, W810 & W880. Soon to come is the K850! Also, I’d like to announce a new page at The Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog – the “Sony Ericsson Me!” page (still a little work to do, though), where both I and you guys can share your thoughts in general on Sony Ericsson phones and your own phones. Feel free to link to pictures as well :) It can be found here. Well, anyways, here is the picture :-)

W54S – Japanese wonder phone

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

W54S is a very cool Japanese Sony Ericsson phone that was announced recently. It was announced as a part of the Japanese KDDI network’s rather large announcement of its new range of phones (8 new phones were announced).

The W54S has a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus, and it supports MicroSD memory cards when the 1 gigs of intern memory is up, and you want to store more pictures, music and videos. Its display is a massive 2.8 inch OLED display with a full 240 x 400 pixels resolution. Nice! It’s also got a DMB reciever and supports CDMA EVDO Rev A.

It measures 50 x 106 x 19 millimeters and weighs in at 146 grams. Not the lightest phone ever, I must say! However this is pretty normal for higher spec’d Japanese phones. It comes in three colors; Aqua Blue, Fromboise Red and Velvet Black. Personally I like the blue and black edition, which is rather uncommon for me to like the design of a Japanese phone :-)

You can check out a whole lot of pictures at JUSTAMP.

W960 review at Mobile-Review

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

w960_mobile-review_review.jpgMobile-Review has posted a great review of Sony Ericsson W960. The review is in Russian, but thanks to great translation sites such as Google Translate, all us non-Russian-speaking people can also have a nice read. You can find the review here :-)

Update! The English one has now been posted!

By the way, in case you’re wondering why I’ve been inactive lately, it’s because my computer has been a mess, and it’s been pretty much impossible for me to use it.

Yay! T68i & T610 has arrived!

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

I just received these two phones yesterday :-)

And now some of you could be wondering, what on Earth I’d want these two phones for. Well, the Ericsson T68 was the world’s first color screen phone, and the T68i is, I think, the one that replicates this the best from Sony Ericsson. T610 is a phone, that made Sony Ericsson popular and is pretty much the only reason why Sony Ericsson is in the top 4 of the world’s biggest manufacturers this day.

I’ll make sure to post some pictures of these two phones (for sentimental reasons, of course)! Also noticed that they’re both on the first firmware release, but I don’t have any cable to update their firmware (if they’re still on SEUS, that is). :-(

Dissatisfied Sony Ericsson smartphone customers speak out

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Fed up with buggy firmware, poor customer support and virtually no communication whatsoever from the company who sold them a less than satisfactory flagship product a year ago, UIQ 3 smartphone users have submitted an Open Letter to the new CEO of Sony Ericsson.

If you’ve been a part of the UIQ 3 debacle this past year, please digg this to make Sony Ericsson realize this problem.

K850 coming soon

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Well, just an update on the post I posted last week. My boss has had a chat with Sony Ericsson, and it seems that they’ll send the phone next Monday (I think it’s because of vacation, that they can’t send it before). So I’m strongly counting on getting a green K850 next week – am very excited. Especially because this color variant isn’t available here in Denmark.

So watch this space, and I’ll of course make sure to post lots of pictures, thoughts and my final review!

PhotoFix – any good?

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

In my quest to find out if PhotoFix is any good, I’ve shot some pictures with my new “K810″, and compared the original picture with the one after the processing of PhotoFix.

PhotoFix works quite well in some coincidences, while in others, it totally ruins the picture, making it way to light and easily overexposed.

You can check out 11 examples of PhotoFix usage after the break.
